You're right, it'll never happen. As if Apple bothers to crawl the web's forums for product suggestions/requests. They probably already get more suggestions than they care to read at apple.com/feedback, from people who take the time to bring their suggestions directly to Apple. But no, people would prefer to post in places like this, presumably in the belief that their ideas are so valuable that Apple will actually seek them out. If you really want to "try," then take your one-sentence suggestion over to Apple's own "suggestion box."

And as to the Idea... It's one thing for a store to offer Search - that encourages product "discovery." It's another thing entirely to allow "Hide." If you were a developer I'd expect you'd be hopping mad at the shopkeeper for giving customers the power to ignore your apps. You'd wonder why you ever bothered to sign up with that shopkeeper to begin with.

AppStore is sorely in need of a modern search engine too. Finding stuff is a miserable experience.
Google will always be a better app search engine. For example, I’d never suggest someone go to the AppStore to search for “vector drawing apps”. You can get FAR more and better information, the vast majority of which is NOT provided by the developer so, potentially more valuable than whatever you find. And the reviews are far more comprehensive outside the store, including video reviews showing how the features actually work.

I know it will never happen but at least I tried.
Reach out to developers instead, tell them to include “non-subscription” in their descriptions. Then, you can get this just by doing your own search. ;) Tweet it and make it a whole viral thing :D

Of course, then the subscription apps will start including that as a search term, soooooo yeah. Much better to search for this information OUTSIDE the AppStore.

Some snarky responses.

While I agree with @ApfelKuchen’s point, it could have been suggested more tactfully (e.g., “You should also submit your request to apple.com/feedback because…”)
Oh, and maybe even a clickable/tappable link
😉

What an excellent suggestion! I stopped using the App Store because 99% app of the apps I was finding were subscription based. Are there really people who pay recurring fees to use apps on their phones? I understand for media-based service like Netflix or tutorial apps but for games and regular apps it’s complete nonsense.

I totally agree. And have posted the request. Thanks for the thought! Devs are so greedy nowadays you have to almost pay annually the amount of money that was sufficient for lifetime license a few years ago. I understand subscription model of businesses but I am strongly against strongly overpriced fees.
I am very curious how many people keep themselves away of App Store because of what keep happens out there.

And I remember that years ago Apply encouraged devs to change their business model to subscription. Since then things have gone towards hell, all have had gone wrong.

People send money monthly to their favorite YouTuber, so of course people are sending recurring fees to use apps on their phones. :) There’s a large economy of people financially supporting entertainers, developers, gamers that they like.

I suppose I do not agree with you. Supporting favorite people is okay, but apps and games developers have become more and more greedy. Everyone who plays for example Asphalt Legends knows that paying and paying gives you so little... One can spend thoudands $ and make moderate progress. Any calendar apps on subscription model- you have to pay annually as much as few years earlier one paid for lifetime license. So I really do not agree with you.

It’s because for the most part, creating iOS apps isn’t profitable in the long run for 95% of the developers and they want the gravy train trickling in year after year via a subscription.

I understand that they want profit, and that’s perfectly OK. However, by using subscription only, devs will get 0$ from me. There’s a lot of apps i would have bought if it was possible to pay once.

Supporting favorite people is ok ONLY as long as their favorite person isn’t a developer? Sure. I know that the Hey app is happy that folks disagree with you!
