I use IMAP on my iPhone, and also want to configure it on my Apple
Mail client with my Mac (I have the newest version of Apple Mail).
However, when I delete messages I notice that the deleted message is
still in All Mail. I would like it to get put in the Gmail trash
folder. It does this on my iPhone mail client (abit it keeps the Inbox
label but its not in the inbox, its in Gmail's trash) but not with
Apple Mail. How can I configure it to do that?

Thanks.

EDIT: Also, in reference to this thread (https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/390369/) where Gmail lets you reply using a custom "from" address (ex. I get an email from my school account that Gmail downloads using POP, I can reply on the gmail website as well making it look like its from the school email). Can this be done with Apple Mail or the iPhone?

I'm not sure you can setup Gmail to use IMAP...

I followed the directions in the link above when I setup my account, works fine. My deleted items go into the trash, and if you hit the little carrot next to the trash it expands and shows a gmail trash (which is where my trash from gmail goes).

I also have the option to send from multiple accounts. I'm not sure how mail handles that but it's there...
