I think he meant the situation is crappy. No ones ever happy knowing that they had more money only due to a mistake.

Exactly. I don't mind giving the money back, I just didn't realize that the mistake had occurred, and it sucks that it will be taken from March. Oh well. I hope it doesn't happen again.
I guess I can understand being annoyed at the error, but in essence, they gave you a one month, interest free loan of $1100 (or whatever the real amount is) that they didn't owe you. If they were trying to do an EFT chargeback and it raised all kinds of other nuisances like having to make sure your bank account balance is large enough to accommodate the chargeback and not knowing when it will happen, I could understand being upset, but they seem to have chosen the most generous way of dealing with their mistake short of just throwing cash you didn't earn at you....
Yes, but the difference between a loan and this is that I didn't ask for a loan of $1100. And if they did an EFT chargeback I would have BIG problems with them, so I am glad that didn't happen.
I am happy that Apple is taking care of this the right way. I am agitated that it happened in the first place from a company as big as Apple who can hire as many people in their finance department as they want.

Don't assume or accuse me based on a previous post by me that I had any clue it was actually an overpayment.
I figured it was back payment from a previous month, because Apple is so damn finicky about how/when they pay and region totals under $250 add up.
If I had known I wouldn't have been so stupid as to start a thread about this.
Got the same thing. It's crappy. It was my first month getting paid by Apple, so I thought the extra was from other countries. It's not clear how you will get paid, so the first payment seemed right, considering that payments from other regions are reported in different domination. The amount of the overpayment seemed like it fit.
Did this happen to everyone, or only a few people?
I had what looks like a small overpayment in Jan (about $40) as I couldn't reconcile the payment with my US report. Not heard from Apple yet though.
Sigh. I just wish I were smart enough to be in a position to be getting royalties from Apple in the first place ...
I'm in the same situation. They've overpaid me and now they're going to withhold money from this months deposit. If only it was the other way around
It's a shame when a company does that to someone but I suppose if you've already received payment, it's only fair. It could be worse, they could BILL you for it after it's being spent on other things and just pay you as normal.
I did the same thing with Natwest to claw my own money back off them and it actually worked... eventually.
Me "You won't give me insurance on a loan when I've paid £500 towards the policy just because I took a full-time temporary contract within a fortnight of finishing a permanent job?"
Natwest: "Yep. We're twunts, don't you know that? (Our adverts are total BS, we'd physically bugger our customers if we could get away with it)"
Me "You charged me a fortune in bank charges after making it impossible to cancel or change standing orders and direct debits in time to stop them then charge me for those charges?"
Natwest: "Blah blah, different story every time you speak to someone, blah blah, terms and conditions, blah blah etc..."
"You're not getting a penny till the charges are written off because you've already had enough to cover my loan payments for the next entire year with just the payment protection I've paid alone"
Natwest: "We'll write off all the charges since November and reimburse you're payment protection"
Me "Why am I still paying nearly £9pm on top for the insurance if it's now cancelled?"
Natwest: "Oh, that's the insurance company who made that decision"
Me: "But you sold me the insurance? I've now moved to a better bank and won't be making any further deposits till this is all sorted out"
Natwest: "We can extend your overdraft to help with the payments, just makes sure there's enough to cover the payments each month and we'll reduce it on a sliding scale each month"
Me: "I suppose so"
Even when you try and beat a company at their own game, they always find some way of making it closer to a tie than a defeat
Happened to me, too. They claim they overpaid me 10%. I don't pay too much attention because there are so many variables (Sales Reports vs Financial Reports, individual countries, rest-of-world, $250 minimums, different posting dates, etc.) I'm not complaining... but I would expect these bugs to be worked out in the near future.
haha i got the exact same email...and I got paid for march and they forgot to subtract the overpayment again.
My USD payment seems to be roughly under by what I was overpaid in Jan so it seems they've corrected their mistake, but I've had no email. Might email them.
