Apple Pay in Ireland

I tried ordering some products online this week trough the Apple store with my coupled MasterCard to my account. I got a warning message my MasterCard card was declined. Contacted my bank and they claimed its because Apple started Apple Pay in Ireland it might be some days before I can use my MasterCard again.
Have been using the same card for years and now I do have problems. Is this normal and are other people having the same problems?
Would love to order a iPhone 12 Pro Max as soon as possible but because if this I won't be able to do so.
