Apple has posted a video from the Steve Jobs memorial/celebration held on Apple's campus on October 19th, 2011. The 80 minute video is available on Apple's site. All of the retail stores were closed during the event so that everyone could watch. Apple CEO Tim Cook opens the video:
The last two weeks for me have been the saddest in my life by far. But I know Steve. And Steve would have wanted this cloud to lift for Apple and our focus to return to the work that he loved so much. So it's with that spirit, that we wanted to get the entire company together today to celebrate Steve's extraordinary life and many accomplishments he had across his life.
Update: It seems to not be working for some. (Note that streaming video requires Safari 4 or 5 on Mac OS X Snow Leopard or Lion, Safari on iOS 3 or later, or QuickTime 7 on Windows.)

Strange. The internet is such a fickle thing.

Don't feel so bad. Doesn't work for me either. On Safari. "Please check back later."

Edit: Had to force change the User Agent in Safari from "Default (Automatically Chosen)" to "Safari 5.1 (Mac)" and then it worked.

For some reason I clicked on Chrome earlier. Switched back to Safari and it works great. I guess it does say that down there... Heh.

It's a nice move by Apple putting it online. I thought they might do that. With the bio coming out tomorrow and the 60 Minutes story today, it's a nice tribute.

They weren't going to post it originally but there was a huge outpouring of people begging for it. I was one of them and I emailed Tim Cook and he replied back and he thanked me for writing him and saying that they would post it after so many people wanted to see it for closure.

He thanked me and he said the thousands of other emails for saying we support him. Also thanked me for donating money to cancer research and for starting an drive to get people to become organ donors at my university by our student government drive.

They've given preference to snow leopard and iphone/ipad. From the page source:

Code:
/*snowLeopard url*/
var slURL = "http://qthttp.apple.com.edgesuite.net/11ajdjnvkjnd10weoihf23ohfoihqw/sl_mvp.m3u8";
/* non-snowLeopard url*/
var nonSlURL='http://stream.qtv.apple.com/events/oct/10oiuhfvojb23/checkback.jpg';
/*Windows url*/
var windowsURL = 'http://stream.qtv.apple.com/events/oct/10oiuhfvojb23/checkback.jpg';
/*iphone url */

This is a cool surprise. Between this and the book becoming available soon, it's looking like I won't be getting much sleep tonight...

Good damage control to release this before that rather borderline scathing 60 Minutes piece and the upcoming book revelations.
