Finally downloading again (CA). It seems like updating Safari to 14.0.1 (just released) is a prerequisite for starting the Big Sur update download.

Not for me. I was on 14.0. But I was starting the process from System Preferences, not Safari

No joy.... gets to 12.18 GB of 12.18 GB stalls for ~90 seconds and fails with the install error.

This full installer issue is weird. I had to download it using the command line instead.
