Apple today seeded the first beta of OS X 10.10.5 to developers, two weeks after releasing OS X 10.10.4 to the public. Coming just a few months ahead of the public release of OS X 10.11 El Capitan, OS X 10.10.5 may be one of the last significant updates to Yosemite.

The new beta, build number 14F6a, can be downloaded from the Apple Developer Center.

It is not yet clear what's new in the OS X 10.10.5 beta, but like 10.10.4 and earlier betas, it likely includes bug fixes and performance enhancements.

OS X 10.10.4, the current version of OS X Yosemite, introduced multiple bug fixes and under-the-hood performance improvements, including the removal of the problematic Discoveryd process.

Looks like they want to fix a few things before ending major patch support for Yosemite...

I hope they are not adding that EL Cap lock down crud.... Anyone see any release notes yet?

Considering there's not that many changes, 10.5 might be the last point update. It's not like with iCloud where they had to make a 6.8 release to support it and mac app store upgrades - since it dropped a lot of hardware support on older devices.

I had too many (Network - WIFI) issues when I had Yosemite, no WIFI problems so far on El Cap, but still some other bugs here and there, can live with it.
Seriously, the El Cap sounds amazing and it's in Beta. This shows the sad state Yosemite is in right now. I signed up for the Beta but can't decide if I want it on the iMac or rMBP. I'd kill for no Wi-Fi issues, it's abysmal right now. I'm installing when I get home from work today.

Doesn't show up in MAS here like the 10.10.4 betas did, for some reason. Softwareupdate catalog URL is probably different.

Why???? why bother will all that effort on an interum version when another major release is happening??? I just loaded the beta of 10.11 the other day on an aging 2009 MacBook and it works a LOT better than 10.10.3...... seems odd they are split like this on their development .......

10.7.5 – 10.8.5 – 10.9.5 –> 10.10.5

Obviously a rule has been established, like "at .5 we should be finished"

It's a developer preview, not a public beta update at this point.

Although it's a developer preview, it's still not showing up as it should in MAS after installing the Software Update Seed Configuration Utility (which is supposed to make it show up in MAS).
