Revamped Infinite Loop Apple Store in Cupertino Now Open

After being closed since June for a complete overhaul, Apple today re-opened its Infinite Loop Campus Store in Cupertino, California. The store is located on its famous campus, and it is the only Apple Store that sells Apple-branded products like t-shirts, notebooks, and coffee mugs in addition to standard Apple Store fare like MacBooks and iPhones.

Hundreds of people visited the new store today, waiting in long lines to get inside to see the new design. Apple employees were on hand to give out umbrellas to block out the sun and water to beat the 90 degree heat. Customers who waited in line received a free shirt that plays on the Apple Watch and Apple Music, reading just " Shirt."

Before it was redesigned, the campus store only sold items like T-shirts and coffee mugs, but after the revamp, it is a full Apple Store that lacks only a Genius Bar for device repairs. The store now sells iPhones, iPads, MacBooks, Apple Watches, Beats headphones, and related accessories like cases and bands, but it does not offer third-party accessories.

All available products are widely spaced out to place focus on each individual item, and as employees at the store opening pointed out, this is the first Apple Store in the U.S. to sport this particular internal design.

While Apple has cut down on the number of Apple-branded swag products that are offered at the store, the company is selling a selection of notebooks, coffee mugs, water bottles, and pens that are designed to match its MacBook lineup in shades of Silver, Space Gray, and Gold.

Apple's Infinite Loop Store will be open to the public from Monday to Friday, and going forward, the store will also be open on Saturdays, something that's new for this particular location.

It's a super nice location and for people who live in the area, it'll be a great local Apple Store. Nice for people visiting the campus too, of course.

I think that's just it. I think they prefer it this way. It's kinda special having a mug or shirt or notepad that you can only get from one place in the world. Think about it,if they wanted...they could sell any of these items online and everyone would buy them.

Every 3 steps you'd take on the street you'd see someone wearing it.

I'm fortunate enough to only work about 15 minutes from there,so for me I'm able to go. All those who can't,I do feel sorry for them. It's nice walking about or into a Starbucks and 2-3 people asking me where I got my shirt from. It's kinda cool.

Offering something unique in limited quants or in limited places keeps the popularity of the item up and even increases the interest. This is how many entrepreneurs selling specialized T-shirts do it. Once mass produced and penetrated in many retail stores the interest for the product may drop.

From my perspective, this "revamp" is really disappointing. I think it's sad how corporate Apple has become. They used to sell a lot of clever and cool merchandise at The Company Store. Now they think they can sell something when all they do is stamp an Apple logo on it? How original! Last thing I bought from them, about 15 or so years ago, was a t-shirt that says "I visited the mothership" (which I still have) and even that paled in comparison to some of the neat stuff they used to carry.

Also, as I haven't been to The Company Store in several years, the article may have been accurate from the point of view of just before the "grand re-opening", but it's not entirely true in that they used to sell Apple devices, accessories, and software there in the past.

Not that the item itself is special,but special because you can only get it there. I'm sure there's plenty of people that wish they could go there.

lol, unless they sell the t-shirts now for $500+ then that is not the model the apple store works.
They sell these items in 1 loop just as a remembrance from their time visiting 1loop. They currently aren't interested in selling clothing to make money.
