When I watch Apple trailers on my MBA (late 2010) in 480p and 720p the movie trailers stutter/are choppy during the whole thing. Not so much in 480p but still choppy. That's after I let the video to load. What can I do to make the trailers run smoothly?

I have QuickTime Player 10.1

These trailers aren't downloaded. I watch them online.

I know.
I just found a way to open Apple Trailers in QT Player 7, by just opening QT Player 7 and then clicking the trailer link.
Does that work for you?
I opened QuickTime Player 7. But what do you mean by "clicking the trailer link"?

That's weird. Nothing happens when I click on it.

I made a small video (4 MB) of what I was doing.
I had both QT Players open, clicked the trailer link and the trailer opened in QT X. Once I closed QT X, the subsequent trailers opened in QT 7.
Maybe try a restart, and if that does not help, does it also happen in another, even temporarily created, user account?

I tried doing what you suggested but unfortunately it didn't work. Nothing happens. I'm giving up. I'll watch trailers on YouTube from now on. Thank you for making the video. Much appreciated! :)

Just out of curiosity, you do have QT 7 installed, don't you?
I downloaded this one (QT 7 does not come with Lion anymore) and installed it. It is then found in the Utilities folder (CMD+SHIFT+U in Finder).

Yes, I do have QuickTime Player 7 installed. I'll try uninstalling and re-installing it using the link you posted.

If that does not work, the try deleting all QuickTime related PLIST files in Finder > OPTION-click the GO menu > select Library > then go to the Preferences folder and look for those com.apple.quicktime.plist files and move them to the Trash.
For a more visual approach, here is a 3.5 MB video showing you what I did.
