Earth (for now)
I have an old tvOS with jailbroken tvOS 5.3 running firecore flash black, connected to a little used basement TV. Netflix asks for an update, but works fine. The OS doesn't support 2 factor authentication, but by appending the 2nd code to my password, it logs me in fine to see all my iTunes content. However, I can't play any of it as it says this Apple TV is not authorized to play this content.

I looked in iCloud, and it doesn't list this Apple TV under my devices. It states it only lists iDevices at iOS 8 and later. As mentioned, the Apple TV is on tvOS 5.3, and that corresponds to iOS 6.1.4. The latest possible one is tvOS 6.2.1, which corresponds to iOS 7.1.2. Would 6.2.1 still not be able to play any of the iTunes content?

I'm wondering if I should stick with jailbroken 5.3 or if I should upgrade to 6.2.1. I guessing 6.2.1 won't help me, but I'm not sure. I don't actually use Infuse so it wouldn't be the end of the world to lose the jailbreak. If I can't play my iTunes content, I'll just have to stick with Netflix on this basement TV I guess.

I seriously doubt it but I am not sure. As for you I would seriously consider upgrading to the HD or 4K. I used to have a ATV 3 and I am so so happy I upgraded.

Thanks for the response.

I have an Apple TV 4K. This is for a secondary TV that is only 720p, which is why I even considered trying this.

Anyhow, I guess I’ll just wait to see if Apple TV releases a new this year, to see if it’s worth buying yet another one.
