My Apple TV is recently not being recognized by my TV. I have 3 HDMI inputs currently to the TV: 1) Dish TV 2) DVD player and 3) Apple TV. Whenever I turn on the TV, it automatically goes to the Dish TV input allowing normal TV viewing. Then if I want to switch to Apple TV viewing, I can either 1) use my iOS device and click on the input to TV icon or 2) use my Apple TV remote. In either case, the Apple TV turns on but the Dish TV input remains on. The input won't switch to the Apple TV feed. If I physically remove the Dish input from the TV, then the Apple TV feed will work. This has only been a recent development. It used to work fine in the past. I have not changed anything. What the heck is going on and how can I fix it?

Most likely, Dish doesn't stop streaming to the TV and if HDMI-CEC is enabled, the TV thinks you are wanting to watch the Dish content. As convenient as CEC is, it might be worth considering turning it off on the TV and manually switching inputs.

After a chat with Apple support, we did the following: tried a different HDMI cable - no luck. Moved Apple TV to a different TV. Everything worked fine there. Did a firmware update as long as I was at it. Moved it back to original TV - again no luck. That means the TV set is the issue. I then found the TV reset function buried deep in the Menu choices. Did a reset and bingo, the TV found the Apple TV signal and all is well. I wonder how long it will last? At least though now I know the solution.
