You're missing the point. Should not get until everyone can get. Paying customers should be priority.
I get that it's cheap advertising. But, still...
Oh I would hate it if some YouTubers couldn’t get devices until the rest of us do. I value sneak peeks and early impressions. Since so many of us get stuck waiting on preorders that we had to make sight unseen, it’s kind of nice to have these sneak peeks to help us decide whether or not to keep the order active.

Edit to add: I don’t necessarily trust what the YouTuber says about the product. I know what I’m looking for. I just appreciate the opportunity to sort of look over their shoulders to see and hear what I want to discern for myself.

By giving review units to reviewers Apple is doing a great service precisely to paying customers. It allows us mere mortals to have more - possibly unbiased - information on the product we might buy.

I am old enough to have accumulated a lot of old fashioned watches all the way to a circa 1940’s Hamilton. I enjoy taking them out and admiring them from time to time but I don’t find them particularly compelling to wear anymore. And maintenance for the ones that need batteries or to be regularly moved or exposed to light to operate is kind of a bother. I have a daughter who likes old school vintage and wears some of them. I prefer a wrist computer that tells me the weather and even what town I’m in at a glance.

And the ability to change bands to match occasions and outfits is the kind of fun I had with Swatch watches in the 80’s and early 90’s.

This is what I do, too. Sometimes, I even wear the Apple Watch with 2 different color bands, e.g. white and black.

I disagree - she is pretty and well spoken and gives a candid honest review I think - This was the first one I watched of hers and I really enjoyed it. So much better than other reviewers who doddle and keep telling you the obvious - she showed some good insight I thought!

Honest reviews? You forgot /s right?

Nice packaging. Although I really like the ‘Plastic boxes’ Apple used for the Stainless Watches for previous models, it was well protected and elegant in some ways. But The plastic boxes were not environmentally friendly either, which is why they likely removed them in place of more cardboard material instead.

Oh about iJustine’s style. She did start her career as a teenager and got a groove that worked for her at that age and since it still works well enough to keep a young audience she appears to be sticking with it.

It’s not going to appeal to everyone. Those who find her style a bit over the top will likely appreciate the more reserved demeanor of subdued reviewers like Lisa Gade and Marques Brownlee, whom I also like.

I spend a lot of time around girls aged toddler-16 so far. Many exhibit that level of animation and exhuberence. As do a lot of boys if you get them going on their favorite subjects.

iJustine exudes a youthful exhuberance that appeals to her younger audience. And she still relates to those of us who used to be that vivacious before social pressure to conform to the more widely accepted reserved demeanor beat us down. Her craziness is something we dearly miss in ourselves.

Hah, and if you get enough coffee in me and drop off my new gadgets midday, well hell yeah, I’m that crazy too. It’s my damned kitchen and I’ll go bonkers if I want to. It’s not as if the cats are going to complain.

I once made the UPS driver double over laughing because I ran out of the house and met him down the driveway jumping up and down and he said “Yeah that’s your new phone isn’t it? I’ve been delivering these all day. Everyone’s going crazy.”

LOL how funny to read people complaining about the price :) how about you pay 9-10k for a useless Rolex,Breitling etc to look at the time only ? If you compare to those prices and functuality I think Apple Watch is super cheap .You can do more with it.
What are you going to do with the Rolex besides looking st the time only ? :))

I know both worlds. A Rolex (which is a CHEAP, nevertheless luxury watch) has its place in the world. A Rolex is not useless. It is a gorgeous mechanical watch, which does, what a mechanical watch can do. One advantage of Rolexes: They never become obsolete, because they are never out of upgradeability, because there is nothing to upgrade.

An Apple watch (or whatever brand) has a shorter lifespan. Enjoy what you get on purchasing a smart watch. If you want more, get the next generation. If you are satisfied, use it, as long as the battery works.

A Rolex needs a service every 5 years at the price of a new Apple watch. So finally we are all in the same boat....

A blonde and a knife meet at a table...

Apple should also provide unboxers from now on. The existing ones do not
meet my expectations as an Apple customer.

What about that „whole experience“ thing when it really counts? Just let Jony do it. As the new CUO of Apple.

I LOVE this idea, put all of these annoying "famous" youtube people out of commission. Start releasing their own unboxing videos, stop giving out free items to these idiots.

Oh, I'm like a kid at Christmas. Apple launch time in fall is my Christmas pretty much. Christmas gifts tend to be more of the "I need these practical items" by that point.

Off topic but not really... iJustine is so annoying.

Well, on the flip side, she's a beautiful woman with a cute and bubbly personality who likes Apple products as much as us. Sounds like the ideal mate to me!

I mean, first of all, how many female tech enthusiasts are there out there? Second, of all tech enthusiasts, how many are specifically APPLE enthusiasts? Third, of all Apple enthusiasts, how many (male or female) are as attractive and charming as her? Personally, I think she deserves every penny she gets. But then again, I also liked "Charlie's Angels" back in the 1970s, so what do I know?

Jealous people who want top-tier Apple products with no money in their pocket. It’s normal.

The only people complains about the price are the one that see the long term value of the apple watch is ZERO. if hand down the apple watch 1 now -- it's probably worthless value than the 9-10k watch which is classic for lifetime.

Easy to please then?

After many years of strong experimentation, finally everybody produces the exact same thumbnails.

The guy from Spain doesn't even have 200k subscribers and yet got an invitation to the event? He really must be be an Apple bootlicker.

Seriously, I'll never understand why (a) people post videos of them unboxing a product - well maybe I do as there's the 'look at me and what I've got'. Though (b) why other people then actually watch them doing it.

I think Apple pretty much invented the "unboxing experience" thing (or, at least introduced it to the consumer electronics field) by actually putting significant design effort into packaging. Its interesting to see, even if you don't intend to buy the product (I have no axe to grind against the Apple Watch, I just don't want/need one).

The only people complains about the price are the one that see the long term value of the apple watch is ZERO. if hand down the apple watch 1 now -- it's probably worthless value than the 9-10k watch which is classic for lifetime.

Exactly - the 1st gen "Edition" Watches that were sent out to various celebrities for the original launch may be worth serious dosh in the future (if they've been well stored + documented and Apple and/or the celeb in question are still famous) but anything else will likely be scrap value only in 5-10 years time, especially if it relies on dead web services or obsolete communication protocols. If its gold or something then the scrap value may be better than nothing - stainless steel or ceramic, not so much.

A high-quality mechanical watch isn't a practical purchase - its a piece of jewellery that also tells the time (if you just want the right time get a $20 digital) and (if chosen carefully - I'd want to Do The Research) could even be an investment or an heirloom. Personally, I don't want a piece of jewellery (even if it does tell the time) but I can understand the decision.

Spending $1500 or more on a wrist computer that will be obsolete long before the "cheap" $500 aluminium case version with the same functionality starts to tarnish is just the equivalent of using $100 bills as firelighters.

Oh, I'm like a kid at Christmas. Apple launch time in fall is my Christmas pretty much. Christmas gifts tend to be more of the "I need these practical items" by that point.
I am the same. Last year I got pots, pans and a spatula for Christmas but did also get an iPhone X because they were delayed. And because I waffled about wanting one at all. I ended up returning it and getting my silver 8 Plus in January, though.

Up until a couple years ago, my husband and I celebrated our birthdays and wedding anniversary very modestly, if at all. We now time some of our Android purchases to roughly match those dates.

Mother’s Day is usually when I get a wearable or a band for one.

I was going to ask for the Apple Watch for Mother’s Day, to help spread out the expenses. But we found out his employer is willing to pay for his Apple Watch. So at the last possible minute he managed to snag the apparently last gold 40 mm Apple Watch preorder available for pickup at the same store where we are picking up his XS Max.

For Christmas, my husband says he would like to get me the gold Milanese band if I’m interested in it. I’m definitely interested but may ask for that to be put off for Mother’s Day. I kind of need a new backpack for my tech stuff. Mine is just a regular kids gym bag and I want one with real padding for laptops.

Reaaaaally???. How about use it and keep it for ALL your life?. Gen 1 Watch is basically useless now. Well, it kind of works as a Rolex now: only gives the time!!!... Electronics vs mechanical, depdency of a smart phone or not. so, I guess you pay for a Rolex the brand recognition. In the end, if one cares about durability just go with a GShock. That is the most sensible watch purchase, considering only functionality, I mean... to each their own :)

iJustine: this video is the best apple product related video i have ever seen.
i am not saying this is the best product video, but the best apple product related video.

this video works on so many different levels at the same time.

she is obviously genuine.
she really does love apple's products.
and she loves how she can interact with those products, and the opportunities it provides for communication with her circle of friends and family.
its also clear that she values good design and how good design has positive impact on how we feel and react to our circumstances.

the video is great fun as well.
blending personal tidbits and other aspects of her life makes the video compelling to watch.

this product review video also provides info on many of the key features that apple is marketing.
ekg, greater display size area, bands, walkie-talkie, etc.

all of the above is about iJustine's reaction to and use of the apple Series 4 Gold watch.
it almost doesn't even matter that no where in the video does it mention if its the aluminum or the stainless steel model... which is annoying...

but the video (as all her videos) works as well on a deeper sociological level as well.
its very much about 2018 USAmerican-ism.
yoga, Starbucks, fitness challenges, etc.
her entire lifestyle that she allows us to see is so extremely 2018 USAmerican and that is one of the key reasons why i am willing to bet her videos are favorited so much by non-Americans.

lastly, whoever is doing her video editing and production is a real professional.
the music, the timing, it all is so well done.
