Apple Watch Series 9 and Apple Watch SE 2 stock is running low on Apple's online store in the U.S. and some other countries, with various configurations listed as currently unavailable. Some standalone Apple Watch bands are also out of stock.

Apple Watch inventory routinely dwindles ahead of new models launching. At its special event on Monday, Apple is expected to announce Apple Watch Series 10 models with larger displays and a thinner design, an Apple Watch SE 3 that might have a plastic casing, and an Apple Watch Ultra 3 with internal upgrades, including a faster chip.

Apple Watch SE 2 configurations selling out supports the expectation of an Apple Watch SE 3. The current Apple Watch SE was released in 2022.

We'll have full coverage of Apple's event next week, ranging from the iPhone 16 series to all of the rumored new Apple Watch and AirPods models, so be sure to follow along to learn more about all of the devices that are announced.

Based on absolutely nothing more than “new SE is plastic” I had a thought this morning that Apple will really pivot the SE into a Swatch type thing with fun colours and corresponding wacky mix & match bands.

I've been monitoring the stainless steel models as well and very happy to see they're all unavailable but 1.

I also think they're going to discontinue the braided solo loops, or at least offer even less colors. Reason being that one of my colleagues worked at the Apple Store until recently and told me they sold almost none of them, customers like them but are, understandably, turned off as soon as they hear the price.

I wouldn't sweat it. I got my wife an Apple Watch series 9 last week, in the color she wanted. But I bought it on Amazon, since it was $100 LESS than the Apple Store, and our Prime card gives us 5% credit on all Amazon purchases. I just looked, and there are still plenty available. And do you really need to buy one of Apple Store's overpriced bands, since there are literally legions of 3rd party bands to choose from, at every price point and materials.

Can you clarify US in your stories MR? Not in Australian and Europe,..plenty of stock in store and online. Also retail stores in the US have plenty of stock.

They are still around. Also, the annual reminder that if you go into an Apple store, they'll sell you old stock that is on hand in the back at a discount after the new product release day and the old models are not on the floor anymore. It's not much, 10-15% but on an iPhone that adds up to something if you don't need the newest.

Braided Solo Loop will be released in 5 new colors this coming Fall:

Black, (?) Pink, Warm Yellow, Pacific Green & Brilliant Blue.

I honestly don't believe it'll be plastic. Fun colors maybe. But they've already made a non-plastic SE and it'd appear like a downgrade in materials to the average buyer. Maybe the plastic watch rumors we're hearing about will be a different device altogether like an Apple Watch Kids or so.

And imo it doesn't have to be plastic to be marketed towards kids. I've seen the "parents think their kid will ruin this beautiful item" argument against using aluminum but it's the glass on top those parents are probably mostly worried about. It's easy to bump your hand somewhere and crack it.

It is weird to ‘downgrade’ the SE, but from a functionality standpoint the only major thing that separates the SE and series 9 is a slightly larger screen with ‘always on’ functionality.

Perhaps Apple saw too many users opting for a cheaper SE instead of the Series 9?

Ah well, I guess we’ll see in a couple of days. Maybe you’re right and it’s an Apple Watch ‘C’ that uses the current SE internals and gets priced down to $199. Then the regular SE could get upgraded internals and the Series 10 gets a slightly new design.

You can do the same thing at an auto dealership every August when the next year's models come out. I've done it about 6 times. They don't offer it, you have to ask, something like this: "Well, I love the car, but since the 2025 models are out, shouldn't I get some depreciation credit? I mean like the 8-10% your card depreciate after a year?" If the answer is yes, we have a deal. If the answer is some BS, try this: "OK, well I guess that's fair, but at that price I'm going to have to go home and think about it." That seals it every time. They'll do ANYTHING to keep you from leaving and going to another dealership! That's the smart way to buy anything. You can negotiate anything. I spent two Christmas seasons temping at Best Buy, and smart shoppers could get 15-20% off their asking prices on the expensive stuff like major appliances. But if you don't ask, you don't get. So go on, try it at the Apple store when the new ones are coming out. Works every time.

Well it's not a negotiation at the Apple Store, they have set prices, which are reduced, and only applies to stock on hand and only when the new ones are on the floor, which is release day onwards.

Last year got my wife a 512gb 14 Pro for just a little less than the original price of a 14 256gb. Couldn't be picky on the color, though this was a few days after release of the 15.

May do that again, depending on what else the 16 Pro offers, for my line. Same goes with Ultra 3 vs Ultra 2, depending on price difference.

Functionality for day to day in both my cases is probably the same, it's just one less year or updates down the road, assuming I still have that phone when updates end. iPad it is more prevalent (my 2017 Pro 10.6 no longer will get latest OS). My iPhone X, passed to my father same thing.

If you don't desperately need an Apple Watch right now, it might be a good idea to wait until the end of next week before placing a new order for Apple Watch.

Remember when all the insiders claimed for a second year in a row now the watch would be delayed into next year for nostalgia reasons? 😄

If you don’t need an Apple Watch now then you likely won’t need one anytime soon.
