AppleCare for Mac on iPhone?

I have a completely unopened, still plastic-wrapped 1 year AppleCare that I bought with my 2009 MacBook Pro in early 2010. Can I open it up and use this AppleCare on my iPhone 5? Or is it completely useless now? Thank you.
