Guys if this series goes well the next series will be a doozy in 2018! Word has it, and I hope you are sitting down for this. Apple is developing a talent show where you get to judge who the most talented person in America is! And here is the kicker, you get to text who you think should move on to the next round straight from your iPhone. Brilliant I say!!!

Such an embarrassment.
? ...as in S7 phones catching on fire embarrassing? as in Windows 8 (or Windows Me or...you know the others) embarrassing?
Memo to myself: quit reading the comments here, as macrumors.com is in serious need of changing its name to machaters.com. Sorry to single you out mate, but you are the straw that broke the camel's back.

Is anyone seriously interested in this? Seems dated and tired to me.

It's definitely a different avenue for Apple. This would be a part of Apple I wouldn't have any interest in. I think I will Just focus on the Keynotes and WWDC over this.

This deserves to go to historic junkyard where other Apple flops reside (some of them without deserving) like:

Ping
Gamecenter
Pippin
Macintosh TV
Newton

Terrible as it may sound, there are those who'd avoid the show just out of spite. Those who doubt me should spend more time in these forums.

The very few hundred people complaining on here, doesn't compare to the millions of fans of the celebrities on the show. It WILL be successful, get over it.
Pretty much.

Looks entertaining to me, but I'm easily amused.

Can't wait to miss it.

Make sure that you have the time and ability to watch it! Missing only counts if it's not accidental.

Apple, stop messing around and go make some computers! This is what we all want, not a feeble attempt at entertainment.
Honestly, companies that are not trying to become multi-media companies are having a rougher time of it than those that are. I'm not an economist so I can't explain it.

Hate to tell you guys but we're the ones who are out of touch.

You may not like R'n'B radio or rap Apple Music exclusives or collaborations between Apple and specific brands or artists but there is no denying it generates a lot of cash and interest.

Hell, even the Touchbar MacBook that is despised on here has been received well among the community.

It's very easy to demonstrate. Guage the hate on here and compare it to the sales and revenue Apple generate. It is a small overlap on a Venn diagram.

The Macrumours usership is far, far removed from the Apple demographic. Like I said, out of touch.

Don't lump the entire MR readership in with the poster group. The posters are disproportionately, but not a majority, Apple bashers who post here as they try and work through their "issues," but they are not representative of the majority of readers who are Apple fans. Most of them never read the comments, especially after their first exposure to the mess that the forums have become. I come on occasionally just for target practice since the bashers are pretty easy prey. MR can't do anything about the Apple hate because they are dependent on advertising to stay afloat and the bashers provide a lot of clicks.

I might watch some bits on youtube :D

I wonder how much (if any) Apple will release on YouTube? I only ask this since this show comes from Apple's paid service.

On the other hand... free stuff is all over YouTube.

SNL has every sketch and even the musical acts uploaded to YouTube just hours after it broadcasts.

And all the late-night talkshows have the entire show cut into separate clips. The intro skit, the monolouge, each guest, etc. You don't have to tune in to watch Stephen Colbert... you can just watch all the clips on YouTube later.

So yeah... I wonder how much Apple will let go for free?

Whats with this TV reality crap? Apple need courage and spend some $$$ ( they have enough of it ) to commission decent content, such as a drama, comedy, whatever.

Carpool, a load of nerds creating iOS Apps, or Vital Signs really isn't particularly engaging.... I certainly won't be signing up to Apple Music to watch any of these...

Netflix took a huge gamble creating a lot of original content in a short space of time.. if it didn't work out, would have sunk the company. Apple have more than enough $$$ to take the same risk, which would be a drop in the ocean for them.

I dont know how apple lost the plot over music and video.

Back after the success of Napster, Apple saw how popular digital music could be and said: "If you can't beat them join them". The iPod and iTunes store had a stranglehold on the music library for years, so much show they could bargain to have DRM free music. Massive brand power.

Then streaming service came online, rather than smash them before they could get off the ground. They decide to invest in Beats and essentially fragment and rebrand their dominating iTunes music brand into an inferior brand, "beats". Then rather than come up with proper music exploration, streaming service and user created play lists. They went for "beats one radio", who the hell asked for that? A single outdated way of looking at music, essentially an oldworld "podcast" like content. relying on music curation from people they employ (rather than users), who hardly ever update the playlists. How many times do they want to refresh their user interface over the last 5 years? They don't even know their own direction anymore. They sunk their own brand.

Now let's look at video and movies. The iTunes library is HUGE, they could have become Netflix. Passively offer their library to stream whenever for a fixed price. Instead of "renting" like some 90s block bluster VHS. Soooooo backwards.
They could have been funding their own video content (a.k.Stranger things, Oranges in the new black, and etc.) Not as if they couldn't afford it being the most valued company in the world or anything. Such brand power could have even pushed back against the region blocking censorship hell we have in Australia to some extent. Hell even go and poach some good YouTubers to make content. But what we get is some lazy "phone in car" reality TV rubbish nobody asked for.

Ahead of the curve, Apple is not. They are stuck in 2005 "block buster DVD" land. When late night TV content was king, and renting/buying single media was still a thing.

Today it's all about watching ANY content WHEREVER you are for a small fixed price. People want to explore for music, and watch near cinema quality TV series. Get with the program.

Dying with anticipation to watch some fat dude and a *celebrity* sing in the car. LMAO.

Fix the pathetic, broken app rather.

That great and all, though as you don't have access to data about the community at large reaction to the MacBook Pro or sales figures
Around it , you comment is also far removed from reality? Please suppprt your claims? It's biased opinion at best.

Let me guess you talked to a few mates....fellow fans?
