Hello all.

A colleague of mine is running Appleworks on a an OS X 10.4.11 emac G4. Lately when starting up Appleworks it attempts to access a remote firstclass server and beach balls on him. My question is where do I access the Appleworks files that tell it (Appleworks) to do this on launch? Where are the preference files kept?

I tried reinstalling Appleworks but the preferences (and the problem) are transferred to the new install. Any advice would be welcome.
Thanks.

It sounds like your colleague has the web tab in Starting Points selected to show when AppleWorks launches. want to move the AppleWorks preferences found in HD/Users/username/Library/Preferences/AppleWorks & the com.apple.appleworks.plist found in ~/Library/Preferences/ to the Trash, then empty the Trash & restart AppleWorks.

For more info on the preferences, see this user tip on Apple's site.
