I thought the green and orange little dots that Apple added to the top of the screen to indicate the camera or mic being on would be a foolproof way for users to not get tricked by misbehaving apps. However, I think Apple didn’t implement it quite right: I noticed that if there is a green or orange backdrop either in app or just your own screen background, iOS doesn’t do anything to “enhance” or shadow the dot. Hence, it can be completely hidden from the user.

example (not perfect since I don’t know how to edit pics to improve the match) is below. You can start a voice memo and then go back to home and that orange dot is really hard to see. If you were in a nefarious app and the orange match was better and took up the top of screen, you’d be screwed. They should fix that.

I put it in the feedback app. It’s very minor and I don’t think a possible use for a targeted attack or anything, but still an oversight. I haven’t tested it but good spot.
