Are the fans on the 24" alu iMac loud?

I want to by an alu iMac (24", 2,4 Ghz), and i was wondering how much noise it makes, since i need it to record audio.

Hello. This is my first post, i got my first Mac 4 days ago, base model of the iMac 24" I am in "love" with this machine, damn its sweet!

Its VERY quiet, i would say whisper quiet. My external disk makes 2x more noise than the whole iMac alone! Even if i do some heavy CPU tasks, like encode video, the fans seems to stay at nice 1200rpm range.
Temperatures seem to float between 40-60c

I don't think I am too loud, maybe after a few drinks and I'm at the bar, but usually I'm quiet..

Seriously though, I never notice any noises coming from my iMac at all.

Whats the best example?...Ah, ok, go in a room in the basement, far away from noise (obviously). Close the door behind you, shut your central air (if you have one) or anything else that blows and sucks air. Shut the lights...now, close your eyes and hold your breath for about 15 seconds. During the 15 seconds you'll get your answer, more or less. Haha. It's really quite. You won't regret it.
