London's Goldsmith University is holding a conference to discuss the future of artificial sex with robots. The venue was moved to London after it was banned in Malaysia.

I'm not familiar with UK universities. Is Goldsmith University a premier university ?

Does anyone else think that sex robots are a bad idea for society ? One less reason for people to interact with each other.

College boys are desperate because just looking a girl could get you in trouble. Even cruise with a female and you could ostracize them, let alone drunk sex or even spontaneous flirtation or sex is out of the question!

Wether sexbots are good or bad, they are just taking current sextoys one step further.

Meaning they will come, like it or not and as a society it is better to be informed/prepared.

Those who use them will be seen as perverts, often by those who would otherwise - pardon the expression - never offer a helping hand.

With divorce and other laws that pretty much say "misandry", those old sci-fi stories discussing "the battle of the sexes" now have something new to think about.

Malaysia probably banned the event, given their semiconductor industry and perceived connections to it by the "robot industry". Why ban it, when they could profit from it?

Conversely, one with a higher libido could make use of the device when the spouse isn't willing...

Conversely, some people just prefer people - regardless if they are officially attached or not. Open relationships and all that, people are free to set up their own partnerships even if they don't always agree on some specifics. With that aspect, we can only deal with our own.

Its a University that deals with the Arts, Cultural and Social courses and is quite well know.

Malaysia is quite a conservative society, so I'm not surprised it was stopped there.

You see that as a downside, but many people will see that as a very attractive upside.

The difference is most sex toys are designed to be used with another human. The robots are being designed so you never need another human.

Trump will be in favor if they can't say no and/or they never speak up afterwards.

Only nerds would think up artificial sex with robots.

Well, it they pass the Turing test, you wouldn't even be able to tell she's not a human.

You'd still need another human though, if you plan to procreate.

Robots would be great for pregnancy-free, STD-free sex. The only thing you might have to worry about is electrocution.

Why would a guy need a robot if they can't find a partner? Just grab your iPad, surf to a favorite website... kick back... and... well I'll leave it at that. :)

I was thinking Trump's wife would be in favor of it.
