Just wondering?

Anyone know?

There's 2 carriers in Salzburg: Orange and T-Mobile.

do they sell unlocked iPhone 3G's being part of the E.U. ?

and if they do will the phones work with any carrier around the world with DATA as well ?

Cheers.

No, you are out of luck according to this list. It looks like you'll need to head to the Czech Republic, Greece, or Italy (or other countries even further away) to buy a factory-unlocked iPhone 3G.

But according to footnote 1, Austria's One network (which is apparently a subsidiary of Orange?) does offer an authorized unlocking service for their iPhones which were initially sold with a lock.

I don't know, though, whether they'd unlock your phone immediately on request, or if you'd have to wait out the full contract (or some portion of it) before they'd be willing to unlock it.
