Has the excitement got little down? Would you upgrade to the next iPhone if you have iPhone X? I have iPhone X not feeling excited now, bought most iPhone on launch days. My mom is also buying launch day iPhones, currently has iPhone X & i asked her for the 2018 future models & she is also saying she don’t want.

I will upgrade as I have an annual upgrade.

chances are I will upgrade to the larger model. I'm happy with the x size and generally very happy with the iPhone X.

Only ever upgraded once every 2 or 3 years before but this time as I’ve taken up the upgrade program then come January next year I might just go for the new model.
Will wait and see I guess as I might not like what’s on offer.

So you will upgrade just because you have annual upgrade program & need larger size but no other reason right?

It''s going to do pretty much the same things. Who knows what else apple will add to the next version.

It all depends what improvements they do to it to make it worth upgrading for others. It's pretty impossible for most to say will they upgrade as who knows what features apple will add to the next version.

For me cost wise it makes more sense to give the phone back and get a new one. I like to upgrade every year anyway though but least now I don't need to worry about selling it and funding it that way.

Usually my mind was already set to purchase newer model even long before the new iphone leaks but this time around i am not so sure. This year i am not interested in just display, processor or memory improvements. I hope apple will bring 3D display :) which can be turned on or off, then i will buy it for sure.

Aside from the X, I haven't really gotten excited for an iPhone. I also don't upgrade annually so I'm more apt to be watching on the sidelines then waiting in line for a new phone so to speak

Other then the original iPhone, I never really bought into the hype. I guess I was excited about the plus sized model, but was disappointed by it at the same time if that makes sense. The very feature that apple was promoting (its size), was too inhibiting to me, so much so, I quickly jumped at the chance for a SE when the opportunity arose.

Either way, I guess I look at phones differently, more so now, because they're not really that different year over year. Apple introduces small incremental changes, so for me its hard to really get that jazzed up over it.

Lol I forced my brother to buy iPhone 6 when it was released. I told him how good the size is etc...He was on 5s. Then he bought it but returned it saying it’s too big for me and later purchased SE & now after many years bought X.

With the upgrade program from Apple, it's likely be more suited for those who want to upgrade annually. iPhones and smart phones in general are increasingly becoming more expensive, which buying out right isn't as common as it used to be because of increased price points.

I've bought most every year since the 3GS but can't really say I've been excited
For me, it has just been a progression on to the next version, like upgrading OS only hardware
Contracts, upgrade programs, etc. made it easy to do so why not?
If I had been buying each outright and paying full costs up front, I would have probably skipped a year or two

My 6s Plus I bought outright which I was looking to use for at least another year but it had other ideas the white screen of death.
Took to Apple Store which they said as it’s out of warranty I could could replace for £350, but as I didn’t have that sort of money to drop in one go at that time I asked about the upgrade program which resulted in a £69 up front cost instead.

And your post is a good example of why the upgrade program might be more beneficial for those who want to upgrade because it is expensive to replace an iPhone out right and repairs are costly for those who don't have AppleCare or are out of warranty.

    No. Not excited at all.

And if the camera bump remains a prominent Apple design feature (as it seems to be) there will be zero future excitiment from me in the years to come.

I am very happy with the X as is, but I always welcome new improvements. I upgrade annually (iPad and iPhone) so this year will be no different for me.

I upgraded from my 6S to the X because I discovered that, through the Apple Store app, I could sign a 2 year agreement with Sprint and get a hefty discount on the phone (like we used to be able to do all the time). I was content with my 6S, but knowing this might be my last chance to do so, I was incentivized to upgrade.

And, actually, I got the 6S because, at the time, Sprint was considering going away from 2 year contracts (which they did, then they backtracked, then they ultimately did), and that might have been my last chance to get a discounted phone. I still love my 5S that I had before it. At or near the top of my list of favorite phone ever.

So, basically, I've been suckered into the last two upgrades. d-:

Yes, I’m psyched. Apple will be turning the iPhone up to 11 this year. New enclosure. Return to Plus size. Waterproof to 1000m. Foldable display. Stylus.

    Turnt for sure.

I honestly can't remember the last time I was excited for a release but I have always upgraded nonetheless.

Just like every year before this one I'm telling myself that I'm sticking with this model for at least two years but when it comes down to it, I'll use the usual "You never spoil yourself so why not?" line on myself and continue my trend.

I bought the X outright, so I'm planning on keeping it for at least 2 years. As it stands, it'll be the longest I'll ever keep a phone, but I can't justify laying out another $1,000+ for a phone in less than that. Phones are hitting a plateau, anyway. My 6s Plus was chugging along just fine. Had I not been running out of storage and wanting the X, I could have just as easily kept it.

Nope, last year was my last iPhone for at least 2 or 3 years. The hardware changes are minimal and the programming is very much lacking. So until Apple shows me a new OS, I can't see a reason to purchase a new iPhone.

I'm with you here. I'm pretty convinced that iOS 12 will have drastic changes to make it more usable on the X. At the same time, I'm afraid to upgrade my X past the end of iOS 11 as I'm pretty tired of dealing with early upgrade bugs.

I am very excited for the X Plus. That's really the iPhone I want.

I don’t get excited any more. I think practically these days rather than spending money I don’t need to. Phones aren’t changing enough as the technology has reached a point where it’s difficult to bring anything exciting to the table. An iPhone is an iPhone so I upgrade to what is a good deal.
