A few years ago I went to trade in my phone and was told that because of NY laws I had to physically go to the store I got it from, which was impossible due to buying online through AT&T.

So now I was wondering if anyone has done the process recently? I have my latest phone purchased through BestBuy, so when I go to trade it in through Next, do I give them the phone, or mail it back to AT&T?

Would it be easier to just go directly to AT&T?

That sounds really weird. But then again I don't know the laws in NY. Could just be someone not wanting to do their job. Check with AT&T and see if you can do the trade there. I'm sure Best Buy isn't any cheaper than them at the moment anyway.

In MD, i had to drive to another County, because my County has a Pawn Law, that prevents Best Buy from taking in Phone trade-ins, unless I bought the phone from Best Buy in the past.

Now that you are trying to trade in the phone you acquired from Best Buy in the past, you can trade it in person at any best buy.
I know in the past, your phone had to be paid off fully before you can do a trade in with Best Buy. And Best Buy will give you few $$ for your phone towards a purchase of a new phone.

I dont know if BestBuy has caught up to the "Next" Trade In program. You'll have to call local BestBuy and ask about "Next" trade in program.

Which county? I'm just curious because I live in PG.

calling a local Best Buy is like trying to pull blood from a stone.... it's easier to just go down there

That's unfortunate.
Its always been easy to reach a person at a specific department at my local Best Buy... Unless it's a major holiday.

Try around 11am on a weekday..YMMV.
