AT&T service not as good on Long Island anymore? [or Tri-State Area]

Ever since updating to 3.0.1 I have noticed that I am ALWAYS losing service here on Long Island. I thought the problem might be fixed with 3.1 but it's not. Before the update I would have full bars all the time, but not it usually drops to "No Service" or just 1/2 bars.

I thought AT&T improved service in the Tri-State area?

Also, the 3G in Manhattan is getting slightly better, but the other night I was trying to use Google Maps and the Maps were taking FOREVER to load.

    Anyone else?

Have you ever thought that it might just be your phone?

A SIM replacement or sometimes a phone swap typically resolves the issue.

I'm on the other side of the Sound, and service has gone downhill over here lately as well. I attribute it to the network being overloaded.

Myself (3Gs), my girlfriend (3G), my business partner (3G), and his wife (3G) all have had problems in the last few months. We live about a half hour apart, and travel all over CT. Service is equally spotty just about everywhere. There are some good areas, and some awful. My old house had great service up until about 60 days ago, when it started to get dropped calls like crazy, and this was on both my 3G and 3Gs.

    It isn't the individual phones.

True... I sometimes forget just how many people are on the island.
Cell towers could very well be at saturation.

I don't think it would hurt though to see if AT&T will swap SIM cards.
It has shown to be an effective solution in some cases.

cant really say i've noticed much a difference in signal strength in nassau county. I have noticed that sometimes a text message will start to send and stop near the end of the bar and not go through to sometimes even an hour later

@nyisles84 yeah that happens to me too!

but I know there definitely is a problem because I have never had these service issues before [text messages taking long/not sending, losing service constantly]

so yeah it is either this sim card thing or just AT&T's towers
