At what stage will Apple realise we don’t need the full stop there?

Four years later and it’s still not changed. So I’m going to guess, they won’t.

Sorry, maybe I'm missing something but full stop where?

If you don’t know what I’m talking about then I guess I’m the only one that it bugs.

    And who's "we"?

    All sorts of questions arise.

    Nope, me too.

Context: In "normal" text entry, the space bar reaches from the dictation key up to the Go/Return key. But when you're in the Safari URL bar, the rightmost end turns into a full stop key. I'm always hitting it by accident because it's not usually there.

Useful, for me at least, if I want to open a country-specific website when I can hold it down and select whether I want .com, .fi, .de etc.

But then again, maybe that's just me.

Wait. I'm still not getting it. Surely the URL is somewhere you would want to enter a full-stop? Don't all URLs have full-stops in them?

I really don't get OP, every single URL in the world contains a period.
Also, it's a great shortcut for country specific domains if you press and hold.
I say they should make the space bar even smaller to fit a / button.

I still use it, so it isn’t bothersome for me.

Unless you’re visiting a foreign website, you can get to the website by just typing it into google (by default the address bar) and if you do need a period that’s what the symbols key is for. I don’t think we need it directly next to the space bar, especially when a lot of people press it by accident when they are searching google and then get different results because of the periods.

Somehow, I don’t think automatic reliance on Google is what Apple is striving for. I like the period there because I use it almost every time I type a URL. And, I suspect that Apple probably has data showing that most users do as well, which is why it’s still there.

So at what point exactly did we stop needing it there? And can't the people pressing it by accident just try to aim a little bit better while they're at it?

I, again personally, much prefer having it where it is, as opposed to having to switch to the symbols keyboard for one period, and then back again to type the rest of the domain name. Especially with multiple periods.

I wish I could click on a word and still add more to it before it automatically starts searching. That's the one thing I miss the most about android, being able to select suggested words and continue adding more to it and then hit search.

Personally I don't mind that it's there, but rather that it moves. But with that said, I'm not sure where else it could go without moving Backspace... but then where does THAT go? It's tricky!

I never search the name of a site whose address I know so that Google returns it for me to click it. URLs are beautiful.

I’m curious how many Google searches have words separated by periods.and.not.spaces. I know I’ve contributed many.
