all s models have been pretty easy to pickup in the past for me. I'm just going to walk into my local verizon store around lunch time and pick up one. even if they're out it shouldn't be to hard to find another local place that has it in stock.
My closest Apple Store is at the Cumberland Mall now. Has anyone been there for an iPhone launch before? Also, when do they open on friday? I haven’t been there before, so thinking about going tomorrow just to get familiar with the mall and store.
EDIT: Found this from last year, regarding Cumberland Mall:
The customers can line up at 4:00 a.m. outside the entrance from where our restaurants are located. Customers will not be permitted to line up earlier than 4:00 a.m. That entrance will be opened at 5:00 a.m. Once the customers enter the mall, there will be (2) line formations. One line will be customers who have pre-ordered; the second line will be other customers who have come for the new Iphone.
Customers will remain in those lines until the Apple store opens at 8:00 a.m. Good luck!
I just stopped by the Apple Store at Cumberland Mall and one of the workers told me that although there is a separate line for people who reserved, it will be based on when you get in line. So say your reservation is at 9am but you happen to be in line already when they open at 8am, then you would get your phone before someone with an earlier reservation standing behind you.
What's the point in having reservation times then? My appointment is at 8:30am. I was planning on getting there around 8am, but now I feel like I'll have to get there a lot earlier.
Perhaps I misunderstood or heard wrong. Can anyone explain how reservations work? Sorry, this is my first time at an in-store launch. Thanks.
I don’t have a reservation. I’m hoping there will be a chance to pick one up anyway. But I don’t think the times actually matters on launch day. The phone is reserved (for a limited time, say that first day) and you will get it no matter if you show up at 8am or 11am. I might be wrong, so don’t take my word for it.
Launch day is basically just a race against the clock to try and get everyone with pre-orders out, as well as serve other customers that show up for the iPhone.
Cumberland just confirmed this to me on Facebook:
Hi Martin. I have confirmed the Apple store will open at 8am. Security is allowing cars to start parking in the lot at midnight tonight, and they will start lining people up and escorting them into the mall at 6am.
I'll miss you guys.
This is the first year I was able to snag launch day delivery dates with my pre-orders, so I won't be having to wait in line this year. I also have one on reserve, so I'll still see you all in the morning. (Lenox)
You all stay safe, because Lenox was CRAZY last year.
First time at Cunberland. Cobb County said you can park but line at 8am. I've only been to Perimeter before.
There is no one here.
Good morning, and thank you rain for showing up on this great day... Alright, time to head out to Cumberland!
There are about 12 cars here now.
Finally made it to Cumberland. Police officer say we can't line up until 8am. They open at 8am... That is going to be a nightmare!
Yea I know. Been here a while. First one actually but didn't get out of my truck ha.
A bunch of Asians are gonna kill it. I have to say Perimeter is organized
Not really organized when police say something else than the mall itself. What happened to 'security bringing people into the mall at 6 am?'
1 hour 30 mins! Hopefully they survey people before on which phone(s) they want to make check out easier once they open.
Every person near me is buying to resell and I'm up front.
Same here. All of them buying two phones. I'm right around the corner. Hopefully they still have what I want when I get in.
It's such a shame
Dude next to me just gave someone $10,000 in Apple gift cards.. And he has more
Yea but are they valid? I'd never do it. 128+ are gone
Why wouldn't they be. Seems like the employees know this guy pretty well.
Just got to Lenox! Line for non-reservation looks pretty long, but reservation line is pretty short. I just got here (7:40am), and I'm the 9th person in line for reserved.
then you're good.
then you're good.
yea, i guess they are. seemed like everyone was buying just to scalp. it's a total shame too
Good luck to you guys. Haven't had to camp out besides for the 5S.
I thought I was pretty far in front of the line. Apparently not. 1 hour and 30 minutes in and we're moving so effing slowly.
