There's no laws requiring when or if a company dictates their return periods, heck there are stores that don't have returns - at least in the US, I cannot comment on other nations consumer laws.

Then have your company supply you with a phone that meets their dress code. I don't know of any company that dictates what color a phone has to be. Doesn't sound right to me.

company bought the phone and will pay the monthly bills.

The Privacy Screen protectors have a Tint to them that'll cover the white Face of your Phone. Use those with a Case and you should be good.

thanks, it's good solution. i'm gonna contact att once more later today to see if they are willing to do some exception...that's not complicated at their end.

Can't you just put a black case/shell over your phone like most other people do? Problem solved.

if it extended after every exchange couldn't you just exchange it every 2 weeks and never have a phone older than 13 days old?

Interesting. My friend got his I-phone 6 32G on launch days through Apple. He wants to get the plus now. The 14 days are over already. His carrier is AT&T. Are You Saying he can still walk into an apple store and do an exchange for a 6 plus if available and not pay full retail for it? He probably will have to pay another $100 out of pocket for the bigger one.

Another solution is for you to open your own ATT account and buy a black phone for yourself on the Next program if you can't afford a down payment or full price. Then, swap sim cards. The white one will have to be your personal phone and the black your work phone.

It's because you did an EXCHANGE and not a RETURN / REBUY. When you exchange it it doesn't affect the date you signed your contract or mess around with your eligibility. This is a good thing because it stops you from having to wait for your upgrade status to be restored in order to purchase a new phone. It's also bad because as you have noticed, it means you are still under the original AT&T eligibly date for returns which is 1 day before Apple's return date.

For products other than phones, yeah, that's pretty much how it works. There are a few forum posts from people who did that, and their Apple Store said "no more" (despite what the receipt said).

IMO, the problem with doing that with iPhones is what the OP ran into -- if the carrier subsidizes the price of the phone, and you're more than 14 days into your contract with them (with begins on the day the phone ships), they won't give you the subsidized price again.

Apple was happy to take his replacement phone back (under their 14 day return policy), they just couldn't sell him another phone for the cheap subsidized rate (because their systems check with his carrier to determine what the sales price of the phone should be, and Apple doesn't have a way to override what his carrier says in regards to that).

I think California law is 30 days but i was told 14 also when i exchanged my phone due to a defect

I think today would be the last day to exchange it through Apple.
