I'm not sure why this is a shock, this is how Australia has treated indigenous people for its entire modern history.

How does this surprise anyone... Aren't the native peoples of Australia considered as "fauna" by the government and regulated by the Department of Wildlife?..

Didn't they just pass some new draconian laws in the name of fighting terrorism?

We seem to be doing everything backwards these days.

All I saw was a spit mask and being restrained for an unknown reason(most likely to prevent self injury or injuring staff) far from "Abu Ghraib" treatment.

That "child" was just about as big as the staff.
Wants something done about mental health. Something gets done about mental health. Cries about "deplorable" treatment. G'Day Mate.

You wouldn't treat animal, human or any living thing like that you must be very odd/disturbed.
    Good night.

I hope Australia is not starting to imitate the U.S. on this issue. Just from what you posted, it appears that mentally disturbed individuals are being treated through solitary confinement, which generally exacerbates mental illnesses. People should understand that solitary confinement/isolation/segregation doesn't work in the way prison systems intend.

Isolation is psychologically harmful, usually counterproductive, and expensive. Yet its use keeps expanding. Why?
