    Hi Guys,
I'm new here buy anyway, I hope you can answer my question!:)
I want to fly to London and get some iPads to sell them in Moscow, so basically I want to know how easy (hard) is it to get like 20-30 iPads in London (or Bristol). What are the methods of payment, I heard in US you can only pay with credit card because of 2-per person limit, is it the same in UK? So can you please share your knowledge on the topic. If there is a limit, can I gather people who will get me those iPads, for a reward of course, say 20 pounds per pad?

Please don't post here statements like "you won't get 100 iPads thru customs" and all that, because I got this thing covered :)
    Thanks!

P.S. oh and as for the models I'm chasing - the more expensive the better, ideally 64GB 3G iPads ;) and if I could get a few iPhones 4 (unlocked, sealed) it would be great too!)

    LOL.

Good luck trying to find that many that are available.

Why do you think there's such a high demand for iPads? It's because they're sold out everywhere and you need to request to be put on the waiting list.

What's so funny? The fact that being aware I am uneducated on the subject I came asking questions to appropriate place?

So you know for a fact that they are completely unavailable or you just assume because of all the talks over the internet?

Official online store says 7-10 business days waiting for every model, it's not as much as they had on the launch, and assuming they are trying to sell more at retail stores they may have some available, especially most expensive models, since I don't think they are the hottest.

Well I'm still waiting for someone aware to tell me how things are :) Thanks anyway.

The official Apple policy is 2 iPads per customer.

However, if you're going to attempt to purchase 20-30 iPads, they will most definitely notice that you're buying that many and probably stop you at some point.

It's not that they're completely unavailable, it's just that demand is very high. No one knows the actual availability of iPads in every retailer store in London, but chances are, you'll be put on a waiting list (at least for official Apple stores).

My advice would be to try some of the smaller official retailers, I've heard that people have had much better luck with getting iPads.

So I could possibly walk in, buy 2, then come back around and get 2 more, or I can just get 2, and no more because they keep records of who's buying? What if I can find someone who operates some kind of company there and will try to get 30 ipads claiming they are for their employees or something like that?

What are ipad prices in places other than Regent street Apple Store (the official one)? I don't know what other chain stores sell them there anyway, I know it's Best Buy in us, but they only have 1 store in UK (as far as i'm aware).

I can also visit Bristol for the purpose of buying some iPads, I have a place to stay there and someone to visit :)

And what about buying iPads with cash? How will they have my name on record?

You'd be allowed to buy 2, and that's it. You can't just get back on line and purchase another 2.

And I doubt some employee would be able to "claim" that they are buying for their employees. I'd imagine they'd have to do a corporate business order on the phone or through an email, and they'd need the proper credentials. It's a risky gambit, and the employee could potentially get in trouble.

As for prices, I'm not sure. You'd have to individually check the official retailers, which you can find online at the Apple UK store list.

You can purchase the iPad with cash, but I think that would just raise a bigger red flag that some guy with about $10,000 in cash wants to buy iPads all over London/Bristol. Not to mention, if someone were to mug you...eeesh.

How would they track how many I already both if I pay with cash? Do you know?

Thanks I found the list of official retailers, it's quite big, I think if I can buy 2 at each store I would get my goal :D

Yep the big picture of a guy roaming around London with pile of cash and duffel bag of ipads, but then again, who would know :) and I'm not gonna be alone + I'm know a sloppy person to get mugged :)

pfft , most apple stores are sold out, and most of the other will have about 5-10, plus you can only buy 2, and if you kept buying them they would stop you as its unfair to the people in london who want to buy one to enjoy it and not just sell it to make money

Aren't they still making you setup an Apple account when you buy them to track cash purchaces, or was this just in the US?

5-10 in 5-6 stores will do it for me :) well, you can look at it that way, OR you can see that I am trying to make them available in places apple STILL can't.

I know that they do this in US, no idea about UK. I hope they have loophole and I will be able to get 2 in each store, so I was thinking someone here should know the process of getting iPad for cash.

I've never been in official Apple retail store, but I bought few iPods in their "authorized retailer" here, paid in cash, they didn't ask me for ID or name for that matter. But then again ipods......
