After years of being an Apple Fanboy (preMac days... Apple Lisa anyone?) I had to leave Apple and go with PCs for a business I started. Now I'm back with a new MBA, hoping for a simpler life after wrangling with Vista.

I attached my year old Canon pocket digital camera via USB and OSX did nothing while XP Pro on Parallels sprung to life seeing the camera and offering to transfer the pics. No drivers installed by me on either OS.

Why did OSX leave me so disappointed? I am used to the days when Mac was truly PnP... <sigh>

Were you using Parallels on the Air at the time you plugged it into the USB port ?

    Turn off XP.

The device can't be accessed by 2 OS's at once, it defaulted to XP.

I don't know about Parallels but in Fusion you can toggle between which device is used by which OS.
