Hi guys,

I'm looking to create a backup of my mac's hdd without using time machine as i dont have the appropriate usb or nas storage to do a full backup (yet, need a temporary solution until i do)

Right now im working with a 16gb usb thumb drive which i want to use in both windows and osx (so i figured to partitions hfs+ and fat32)

I want to be prepared so that if my hdd were to die, i could just restore my computer to its origional state using the back up easily (as with time machine)

I figure the best way to go bout this is via a hdd image (80gb of my hdd is used atm and im not sure how large an image of this would be)

From my research Carbon Copy Cloner seems like the best software for this, and there is a free version although i suspect its limited and would prefer not to spend to much if anything.

Id appreciate ure input on this guys, what would you suggest?

Cheers
