My Momentus XT is getting a little cramped, 500GB is too small for me. I decided to jump the gun and get a 1TB 9.5mm. It's a 5,400RPM, so it uses less power than 7,200RPM drives but is so dense that it performs just as well. Win-win! There's 2 hard drives on the market right now: the Spinpoint and the Scorpio Blue. Benchmarks show very similar performance, with the Spinpoint having lower power consumption. But no one ever bothered with reliability. It's a major factor; after all, it's a mechanical drive. Does anyone have experience with either of these drives? How are the warranties? Are they reliable?
