The adapters are only for people that are trying to avoid wireless and are trying to avoid lightning based headphones. Stop fighting progress and the picture above goes away.
Oh please, you know full well there's a boatload of Android phone manufacturers but you deliberately said that to make Android look inferior. Don't backpedal, just admit you're a liar and move on.
You do realize that it's 2016 now, right? Why not just complain because Apple doesn't give you a free adapter to work on 8-track?
Also, sorry, but if you don't have a car newer than one from 2007, then perhaps spending $650+ on a brand new iPhone 7 shouldn't be your priority right now.
not when travelling and using battery packs, or when you don't want to carry the charging pad everywhereIf we get wireless charging on the iPhone "8" then this problem goes away.
This is really only necessary for people who wish to remain in the wired age.In this so called wireless age, we keep on getting more and more wires.
The kludge is insisting on using wires in the first place. These adapters are for people that insist on using dated technology.
Kind of like people that insist on using Android.
An Android device would remove tons of daily functionality and integration that I enjoy and depend on. I won't need this adapter, or any others, as it turns out; I imagine many people are already in the same boat, and most of the rest that aren't currently, will be before too long.

Dongles for days...
Oh great!
A bulky adapter for something that was not needed for the past iPhones.
What innovations can Apple think of next?
...because I have a few places where I use headphones and don't carry them around, Car aux port, biking headphones, phone call headphones, and reference headphones.
Won't be moving a small cable with me (because invariable forgetfulness), so I'd need extra. Also, it's two connectors that break easy, so I'm sure I'll be needing more. It's probably 100 bucks at the end of the day.
I bet it won't be long before there's a battery pack with a built-in DAC, and a mini-headphone jack.not when travelling and using battery packs, or when you don't want to carry the charging pad everywhere
People need to calm down about the audio jack removal. I mean, who is really crazy... the one who removed an ancient connector from their modern pocket computer, or the one who bought analog headphones for $350 now screaming and shoking... jeez.
LOL, liar!
A headphone jack doesn't impede anything at all. Get off the forums if youre going to spread this kind of false bull.
To clarify - You drive around with headphones on?
You are. But if you insist on continuing to use wires, this is what you get.
I didn't realize how aggressively mods deleted responses. On the first page, someone said, "Too bad I can't put moderators on the ignore list" in response to post #3. That was it - not that incendiary a response to a post that added little, but still removed.
Right, but I've never had either of those cases. The only thing I plug into the headphone jack on my phone now is the aux jack in my car, so I would just leave the included dongle in there. I've never needed to charge my phone in my car, not even on long trips, I guess I don't use it enough? I've also never plugged the thing into speakers, if I want to play audio from my iPhone on speakers I usually just use Airplay.Headphones - no. Speakers - yes.
I plug my iPad into my HiFi with a 3.5mm cable while its on charge - I'm sure plenty of people do something similar with iPhones. Also, if your car doesn't have a swanky iPhone-aware/bluetooth stereo then you might use a 3.5mm jack to the stereo + USB adapter in the cigar lighter. The existing iPhone dock is probably a better solution to the first.
The Belkin adapter does look gratuitously large, though - there ought to be room for a 3.5mm jack in there as well!
I have an expensive kenwood touchscreen radio that I bought right before the lightning port was introduced, and support for lightning was never added as a firmware update for the radio. The radio also doesn't have bluetooth support (which at the time didn't matter to me because I could just plug my phone in with USB and be good to go). I use the aux jack in my car every single day to listen to music when I'm driving. Is it time for me to update my radio? Maybe. Should I avoid kenwood in the future for not supporting an expensive radio? Hell yes. Am I just irritated in general about this entire situation? Of course. The continued money to support things sucks. My PA/sound systems also will require adaptors to play music here at home if/when I choose to upgrade my iPhone.
Why not just get an Android phone and make your life easy?
You know you don't have to buy an iPhone 7...
