I thought we were supposed to avoid this . . .

You are.

The adapters are only for people that are trying to avoid wireless and are trying to avoid lightning based headphones. Stop fighting progress and the picture above goes away.

I may be alone here, but I use the EarPods that came with my 6s to listen too music or talk on the phone. When I get the 7, I will use the one that's included with that phone. And when I need to charge it I guess I won't listen to music. Mostly because I charge it while I sleep. I really have no issue with the losing the old plug. I can see folks that are constantly on their phones where one port hinders there ability to do multiple things like charge and listen, but the level of rancor seems unjustified. IMHO

Oh please, you know full well there's a boatload of Android phone manufacturers but you deliberately said that to make Android look inferior. Don't backpedal, just admit you're a liar and move on.

I mean, the only "liar" here is the guy who pretends to be a longer term member without looking at a join date. Way to blow that one, kiddo. Try clicking next time before you make a fool of yourself.

I have to LOL at you not grasping a joke, here, and getting so bent out of shape. You're more bent than my old iPhone.

The kludge is insisting on using wires in the first place. These adapters are for people that insist on using dated technology.

Kind of like people that insist on using Android.

An Android device would remove tons of daily functionality and integration that I enjoy and depend on. I won't need this adapter, or any others, as it turns out; I imagine many people are already in the same boat, and most of the rest that aren't currently, will be before too long.

LOL, liar!

A headphone jack doesn't impede anything at all. Get off the forums if youre going to spread this kind of false bull.

They're not trying to avoid wireless...they're just waiting until the market comes out with wireless headphones/earbuds that aren't garbage.

...because I have a few places where I use headphones and don't carry them around, Car aux port, biking headphones, phone call headphones, and reference headphones.

Won't be moving a small cable with me (because invariable forgetfulness), so I'd need extra. Also, it's two connectors that break easy, so I'm sure I'll be needing more. It's probably 100 bucks at the end of the day.

Okay. But that's you personally. The way you made it sound, you had to pay $10 for the other adapter as well. I understand your situation though.

Why didn't apple replace the 3.5 with an additional Lightning slot? I know we would have 2 Lightning slots but how is that a bad thing?

Weird. I read all the complaints about charging while using headphones/earbuds to listen to music. Personally I can't remember one time I've charged my phone while using wired headphones. How does one do that while on the go? Are you using one of those power block things??

People need to calm down about the audio jack removal. I mean, who is really crazy... the one who removed an ancient connector from their modern pocket computer, or the one who bought analog headphones for $350 now screaming and shoking... jeez.

Typically, I'd say the latter is crazy. My headphones are no more than $25. I consider my $10 pair of Logitech computer speakers quite sufficient. However, keep in mind that the $350 headphones can be used with a whole variety of devices: computers, laptops, Android smartphones, Windows Phones, Ubuntu Phones, Tizen Phones (is there one?), iPods, iPads, older iPhones, digital pianos, etc.

Yo dawg, I herd you like charging, so we put an adapter on your adapter so you can charge while you charge.

I didn't realize how aggressively mods deleted responses. On the first page, someone said, "Too bad I can't put moderators on the ignore list" in response to post #3. That was it - not that incendiary a response to a post that added little, but still removed.

To be fair the mods do a fantastic job Arn must feel blessed - not only with his $40 million + net worth at least.
I joined originally when he first launched but forgot my password. My dad was a consultant anaesthetist - wrote books - always wanted to be a business man when he retired.
Well done Arn well done mods

@belkin

Can I connect MULTIPLE dongles so I can connect
TWO headphones,
Lightning Digital AV Adapter,
Lightning to SD Card Camera Reader,
Lightning to USB Camera Adapter,
Lightning to VGA Adapter, and a
Lightning to Micro USB Adapter
so I can use a spare Galaxy S charger all at the same time?

I want to replace my multimedia system.

Headphones - no. Speakers - yes.

I plug my iPad into my HiFi with a 3.5mm cable while its on charge - I'm sure plenty of people do something similar with iPhones. Also, if your car doesn't have a swanky iPhone-aware/bluetooth stereo then you might use a 3.5mm jack to the stereo + USB adapter in the cigar lighter. The existing iPhone dock is probably a better solution to the first.

The Belkin adapter does look gratuitously large, though - there ought to be room for a 3.5mm jack in there as well!
Right, but I've never had either of those cases. The only thing I plug into the headphone jack on my phone now is the aux jack in my car, so I would just leave the included dongle in there. I've never needed to charge my phone in my car, not even on long trips, I guess I don't use it enough? I've also never plugged the thing into speakers, if I want to play audio from my iPhone on speakers I usually just use Airplay.

But yeah, they need to decrease the width of this thing a little... I mean, the lightning connector is tiny. Shouldn't that be the inspiration here?

I have an expensive kenwood touchscreen radio that I bought right before the lightning port was introduced, and support for lightning was never added as a firmware update for the radio. The radio also doesn't have bluetooth support (which at the time didn't matter to me because I could just plug my phone in with USB and be good to go). I use the aux jack in my car every single day to listen to music when I'm driving. Is it time for me to update my radio? Maybe. Should I avoid kenwood in the future for not supporting an expensive radio? Hell yes. Am I just irritated in general about this entire situation? Of course. The continued money to support things sucks. My PA/sound systems also will require adaptors to play music here at home if/when I choose to upgrade my iPhone.

You know you don't have to buy an iPhone 7...

Or he can just buy a simple Bluetooth adapter from Amazon to plug into the radio's USB slot and go that route. A $15 fix for a big mistake he made of not future proofing a bit.
