Is there any benefit I'm overlooking on updating to 3.1?

I have MMS on T-Mobile and my phone is all customized and running great. I don't want to go through the process of modding all my files and such again...

Then I guess no real reason other than to get iTunes to stop nagging you. :D You can do everything you are doing now with 3.1 no problem, but I agree that it would seem like more work than it's worth.

dont do it I did it last night just basically to be able to rearrange the apps on the screen but after I did it I had nothing but trouble I downgraded back to 3.0, you can use movement to rearrange the apps on your screen. I wouldnt fool with it if I were you. I wish I hadnt because it was a headache getting it to even restore for me.

    Don't Do It

DON'T DO IT YET. you sound like me. everything customized and mms-lovely, but I like to be updated ... anyway, some one or combination of my beloved cydia apps kept my phone from booting after restoring from iTunes successfully, and then APT-restoring those Cydia apps. 5 hours it took me trying to get it to reboot, then frustratedly to get back to 3.0!

Note that iTunes 9 will move all your old ipsws to the trash, if they are in user/Library/iTunes/iPhone software updates. So you have to fish your custom 3.0 out of there too. but major prob was getting phone back into restore mode when it was stuck.

From now on, I'm keeping my eye on the "Recommended firmware" version in small type at the top of the Bigboss.org page before updating.
