This is a great democratic idea... one question though, will the millions and millions of illegal aliens also get cushy government jobs?

Higher taxes and bigger government. Love it. I hope all dems run on that.

No, they need to work on our farms and clean our hotel rooms. Who else is going to do it?

who? ... the illegal aliens who are on the waiting list for their cushy government jobs.

with the push for more illegals ... there will likely be a transition period while they wait for their new government jobs.

Oh, so is this what we’re calling the completely unworkable Universal Basic Income scheme now? A “jobs program”?

    Oh Bernie.

Well that's just it, like with most of what he proposes, he has no idea how to pay for it. It's called a MASSIVE tax hike. Roughly 6.6 million americans are unemployed, paying them $32,000 a year, do the math. Another $200+ billion dollar government program. That's just salary, he also wants to hand them full benefits as well.

Democrat Party strategy for 2022 may also include reparations for slavery:

A top left-wing donor network is shooting to have reparations for black Americans on the Democratic Party’s agenda by 2022, a new report reveals.

Democracy Alliance laid out the lofty goal in a document from the alliance’s spring conference this week in Atlanta, The Washington Free Beacon reports.

Democratic Georgia candidate for governor Stacey Abrams on Monday headlined a reception, “Way to Win: 2022 Victory Party,” which discussed how Democrats can achieve their left-wing dreams.

“It’s 2022 and we are celebrating policy victories across the nation: Medicare for All and Free College, and next on the agenda is Reparations,” the document projected.

We really need a third party that is willing to accept that the past is the past, yes horrible things were done, but we don’t need to play groups off against each other and create new injustices to try to fix old ones. We need to move on from social issues and start working for what is best for the country.

I do. CUT MILITARY SPENDING. $200B is less than 1/3 of what we spend on the military. Trim the fat and the military is one juice piece of bacon. One of those missiles we like to shoot off so much can pay for a college education. We don't need a massive military, we have plenty of armed citizens to repel an invasion...I've seen Red Dawn.:p:D

Not that I necessarily support that idea but it's no worse of an idea than passing a massive tax cut that mainly benefits big businesses and the wealthy and that will also cause the deficit to explode (and probably cause a recession within the next 5 years or so). I mean, if you're going to just completely throw away the idea of being fiscally responsible, than you might as well at least do it in a way that benefits the most Americans instead of mainly the 1%.

That's a hell of a lot less than the recent tax cut will cost Americans and would benefit a hell of a lot more people.

Wrong. We need a bigger military. Armed Citizens might've helped back in the early 1900s, but they can't do squat against tanks, planes, etc.

800+ declared bases, Spec Ops in 160+ countries around the world, 7 wars waging as we speak.

How much bigger can this get?

    You'd be surprised.
I don't want more wars, just a stronger Military. A lot of Countries hate the US with a burning passion, if we were to soften our military, the serpents would enter our garden.

They hate us because we topple governments and occupy nations constantly against international law, and morality for that matter.

WTF does "stronger" mean? We already have the capacity to end the world many times over with nukes, and have the largest military apparatus on the planet by a long, long, long shot.

Last I checked national defense IS an obligation taken on by our government, ensuring every citizen has a guaranteed job with benefits isn't. Why $15/hr? Why not $50? Why not ensure everyone gets six figure incomes? If it was that simple the USSR would still be standing as a utopia.

You could draft everybody into the military, or peace corps for those who object to handling guns/weapons. Kill two birds with one stone.

A draft weakens our military, it doesn't strengthen it.

Even if we cut the military to just the national guard and nukes to maintain a deterrent to Russia nuking us, where is there a credible threat to the US mainland?

A draft weakens our ability to continue perpetual warfare because the public would actually be invested in foreign policy. We can’t hve that, and that’s exactly why the draft was ended. Too many Americans have no interest in dying for the cause of capital markets.

It takes 1 billistic missile to land in the US. If we fail to intercept, then what?

We have good relations with Mexico, the rest have no way of getting soldiers to our shores. Even if things deteriorate with Mexico to the point where we are considering a second Mexican war they don’t have that strong on a military and our national guard could stop them from getting far across the border. Plus that’s what the second amendment is for.
