And comes out victorious, this backfired in a big way for Fox News. When the Fox News host asked "who wants Medicare for all" most of the room applauded, leaving them with egg on their face. Bernie continued to own it.

Bernie won the people over and Fox News learned what people outside of their bubble of Conservatives in a studio really think.

How did the audience react once asked how he was going to pay for it?

I watched, he got applauses from start to finish. The crowd also appreciated Bernie’s outright dismissals of manufactured talking points against his policies.

It was a master class in reaching out to “the other side”.

He also deflected a lot. When they asked since he a top 1%, if he would give away 50% of his gain. Deflect to Trump ect.

The hosts were also scrambling to get their talking points in and struggled as Bernie kept the conversation interesting, he owned the room at that point. My guess is they won't be asking him back for another one.

That actually worked out great, he talked about how his book earned the money, he's not opposed to a higher tax rate and then proceeded to ask when they were going to ask Trump about his finances and even got them to concede that they would. Again, master class.

Again, just playing to his crowd. Independents now outnumber Republicans in and around Philadelphia, as also Democrats. So an Applauseometer is not indicative of how Americans feel nation wide.

It's worth noting that Trump won PA in 2016, then Dems flipped 4 House seats in 2018 which speaks to how Trump has lost his grip on those voters. Polls are showing this trend nationwide and showings like this are proof they are right.

I don't think that is enough to convince voters in 2020. If Jobs/economy is good/great with other incentives we will have Trump for 4 more years.

What did you think the Fox News hosts were hoping to do? It just didn’t work out they intended, Bernie didn’t get “punked”, so now playing to the crowd is a bad thing.

Don't know, don't really care. It was just a townhall meeting for Bernie Saunders with Fox News. And who said Bernie got punked?

Please DNC. Please don’t do this.

Don’t make this man the nominee. Put up Corey Booker, Kamala Harris, Tulsi Gabbard, John Delaney, heck even Elizabeth Warren.

Nearly anybody else. Just not him. Please don’t put me in a position where I have to vote for Trump.

Please, oh please. Do the right thing DNC.

He's going to fight for the nom as if his life depends on it. Anyone that thinks upstarts are going to push him to the side will be sadly mistaken.

I still think it's too early to know who has the upper hand. But he did not come to play. 2016 was a learning experience. For Bernie and the Dems. I think other Dems need to go on Fox. They just have to be prepared and kick strong when the hosts/moderators show their asses.

It'll be the voters choice. Especially with caucuses disappearing. If other Dems don't do this, voters shouldn't support them. No one should be given the nom if they aren't going to fight for it.

What in the world are your values where you’d vote for Trump over Bernie? Honest to god I can’t wrap my mind around such an absurd worldview, can you elaborate on your thought process a bit?

Also, in a functioning democracy, the “right thing” is listening to your goddamn citizens instead of corporate interest X or Y.

If you want to make a policy, own it. Its disingenuous not supporting your own policies as a top 1% earner. Saying he pays in taxes what he owes ( Same as Trump said by the way )

I’m not sure what you mean by lions den. Sure seems like a good portion of the audience were Bernie supporters.

I would ask you the same question, just in reverse.

I’ll pass. We’ve had this discussion before and you and I clearly see the world differently.

So let’s just say I have absolutely zero desire to live in the world as you want it to be.

    OK...Democrats...please don’t do this.

Bernie just demonstrated that America is now socialist like France and England. Bernie has helped make socialism cool.

I never said, I was referring to our recent rash of someone from the other party got punked posts when they didn’t. It’s notable because Bernie did a town hall on Fox, with their supposed audience. To the point that I believe the first question was asked of Turning Point ( thus the punked reference again ) contributor. What made people care was how Bernie handled the Fox News hosts, which was testy, but seemed to please the audience. Not something I am sure Fox intended.

We need something radical (for American standards) to be implemented for a change. We already tried the so-called tested methods, pure capitalist methods, and etc. It seems we are always put back in the same position or worst off.

I will now in this very thread definitively answer the ignorant question I see asked way too often, how are we going to pay for this? Drum roll.....wait for it...wait for it....dubstep buildup...and the drop, TAXES.

Now quit asking stupid questions that you know damn well what the answer is. Go throw your outrage at our military spending, or are you too much of a *****? Don't come back without a sack of money.

Like jobs and the economy? Yes please!

It doesn't didn't help when AOC took away 25,000 jobs offered by Amazon. Some of the reasons why Capitalism might not work if she continues to do that.

Since I have zero intentions on voting for Sanders and his wacky socialist ideas - I didn't watch any of this and don't really care. But the headline of this thread is funny....

My hope is the (D) actually offer up someone who is voteable for.... If not I guess I am reduced to Trump again or maybe Howard Schultz if he runs.. I'd need to hear more from Schultz though...

The quality of employment is getting worst, and the contrast of the rich and working class is getting broader. There is barely a middle class anymore. And is probably why nowadays, even the hard Right voters are second guessing their party's health care stance.
