I’m no Sanders fan and would never vote for him but I don’t think you can compare what he said to what Trump said. Trump said what he said because of something he saw on Fox News. Has he ever stepped foot into West Baltimore?

I know that you think this is some sort of gotcha for Sanders, but there is a world of difference between this and what Trump did today. Sanders was there to draw attention to the problems in the area and to advocate for programs that would help. Trump was simply attacking Cummings and his poor constituents.

Why was Trump attacking Congressman Elijah E. Cummings?

One reason and one only: Cummings chairs the House Oversight and Reform Committee.

Well could actually be a few reasons: what that committee and its subcommittees do.

One of the things it's doing involves trying to repair the damage of Trump's failed campaign to intimidate immigrants during the upcoming 2020 census by having a citizenship question. A subcommittee is now looking into making sure census worker IDs and clothing etc will distinguish them from ICE personnel and so forth, and the committee will be insisting that the Trump government not just sit on a billion bucks that was allocated for improving response to the 2020 census.

That right there's probably enough to set off a few nasty tweets from Trump.

Bottom line that tweet to Cummings wasn't about Baltimore. It was about Trump's fear of Elijah Cummings and rage over the fact that the Republicans lost the House of Representatives in 2018, so the fun times are pretty much over. Trump probably figures by all rights Hillary should have lost in 2018-- oh, wait.... :D --and therefore Cummings should only be that committee's ranking member, not its pesky chairman.

Try not to get too distracted by all those sparks flashing around Trump's tweets. Bits of methane igniting will do that sometimes. :p

I’ve lived in Baltimore my entire life. Trump is an *******, but West Baltimore is like a third world country. It is a dump and a slum. How do I know? My grandmother lived there and I spent much of my childhood there. If you haven’t been there yourself then you have no idea. It is one of, if not the most, unnerving places I’ve ever been. I don’t want to get too personal, but pictures do not do the place justice (in a bad way). It is boarded up, yes rat-infested, drug and violence infested, and I went to sleep with the sound of gunshots and rats on the roof.

    Otay!

Anyway, as pointed out Bernie wasn't there to insult or rundown the area or people. He was stumping doing his usual speech about improving the conditions of others, you know that socialism thing we always hear so much about.

But you knew that, it was in the article if you continued...

But hey, use only part of an article for some out of context faux rage... o_O

where in this thread can you find what trump said? you guys follow him, I don't. and I know he was not there to insult it (Bernie), I did find it comical that a socialist democrat would say that about a city that is led by fellow socialist democrats :D

Why ask me, I haven't mentioned 45 directly.

What I referenced is something that has been widely covered in the news all day, and has been discussed in another long thread. The reason why you saw the article about Bernie's comments is because of what 45 said, and this was the 'whatabout' by the right & 45's people. If you google Bernie, and Baltimore, the first result I got was...

    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/...-up-old-bernie-sanders-criticism-of-baltimore
The reason for news article from 2015 you suddenly felt the share with us in 2019, is because of 45's latest slog in the swamps of racism.

Also, as I said, it doesn't help that you choose to leave out parts to change the context of the story.

made about 5 post in the whole day..........how the hell is pointing out Baltimore is a 3rd world country "racist".
you are pretending I left part of the story out when no where in the article I linked was trump mentioned

    Stay with me.

The reason for the article you rushed to make a post about, to talk about Bernie's comments, is based on 45's racism.

What you left out, which is what your...
...is based on. What you choose to leave out changes the context of what actually happened, which was the intention of bringing this up again in relation to current events. Which is why the 45 campaign put this story in the news rotation for you to conveniently "find" & have to share. :D

"Discovering" a 4 year old article on THIS particular day about comments on the same exact place, isn't something that just happened in a vacuum or is a believable coincidence.

Or didn't it occur to you why this was suddenly relevant?

What led you to discover this article? Why did you feel the need to share the article?

You didn't catch the date. Decided not to print the rest of the article to put Bernie's words into context?

Did you post this just to bash Bernie?

Yet it doesn't concern you why you 'found' an article about Bernie's comments from 4 years ago now?

It doesn't bother you to further the efforts of 45's campaign?

The article wasn't supposed to mention 45, because it was meant to play anyone who'd buy into the deflection.

You bought into it & once pointed out, you want to double down with more deflection.

Or did I miss in the article you happened to suddenly discover where they discussed what parties were responsible for that area's mess? I thought the article was about Bernie's comment from 4 years ago. o_O

    1. Not very responsible.
    2. Not very responsible.
    3. Not very responsible.
    4. Not very responsible.
    5. Not very responsible.

    6. o_O Really? It's what groups like that do. Unlike you, they do the research. They were fortunate enough to find an incident that sounded similar and could prevent a deflection for 45's latest stupidity. Fortunate for 45's campaign people there will be those like yourself blindly repeating their efforts.

    7. Ooh. That means you can try something different and post more from the story, where they do go on about who's responsible for that part of Baltimore's problem.

Wonder when the stage coach will reach Bernies place and he realises "third world" countries is no longer the term used what with the second world countries becoming either independant or splitting into various new states.
First world rather laughingly referring to western and mainly NATO members while the Soviet Union and satellites where the second world while the derogatory term "third world" was used for the rest mainly developing countries.

I don’t think you need to step foot in somewhere to realize it’s a terrible place you wouldn’t want to live.
    --- Post Merged, Jul 28, 2019 ---
Don’t you know criticizing someone who is not white or a non-white neighborhood is “racist?” /s

Also, I haven’t seen anyone come out and say what is said is inaccurate and that Baltimore is a GREAT place to live.

You could watch the Freddie Gray riots and realize it is, in fact, a hell hole.

It’s also accurate to point out it’s been under Democratic and leftist rule for a very long time and is still a Hellhole.

I think Cummings and the local politicians have something to do with it.

I mean, you had Mayor Rawls designating areas of Baltimore for destruction during the Freddie Gray riots.

“Hey guys, please go burn down that section of the city over there.”

    Lol.

I guess it’s “racism" that’s destroyed Baltimore, the west and south sides of Chicago, Detroit and the feces infested streets of San Francisco as opposed to poor policies by the Democrats in charge of those cities.

If anything, I heard that it is worse than four years ago.

Maybe some of the people who disagree with Trump should prove him wrong by living there for awhile :).
    --- Post Merged, Jul 28, 2019 ---
I would probably correct your statement to read "I believe that Trump doesn't care about Baltimore".

No but his rant was based on something he saw on Fox News. We should change his title from POTUS to Cable News Watcher in Chief. Btw, in 2015 he seemed to think Baltimore was the presidents problem.

Like I said Trump doesn’t care about Baltimore. Fox News ran a piece on Baltimore because Elijah Cummings complained about the conditions at the border. Trump saw that piece and decided to start tweeting about Baltimore.

Just a week ago we were told to love it or leave it. Is Baltimore not part of America? Curious what Trump has done or is proposing to do for Baltimore besides tweeting that no one would want to live there.

So now that liberals are screaming at the sky that Trump is a racist, racist, racist for making comments re: Baltimore does that mean Bernie is a racist, racist, racist as well?

So far we have Biden, Pelosi, and maybe Sanders along with Trump as racist, racist, racist..... Wow we sure do have a lot of grand wizards in politics eh?
