It has been FOUR YEARS since I've posted on MR, nice to be back!

I am going to buy a new iPad today and it will be used heavily for data collection outside. It will get a lot of wear and tear. I can safely assume it will be dropped, cracked, broken, in the next two years. I am curious who has the best extended warranty? BestBuy, Apple, Walmart, probably even Target all off some extended warranty where they will replace for "any" reason.

Any negative experiences with these warranties? Any recommendations or words of caution?

    Thanks!

    Hi!

Welcome back! If it were me I’d go Apple direct with Apple care. Might even go with home insurance to cover the device after Apple care expires. All depends on cost of course.

We have different places to buy here in the uk but I’d go Apple even if it were a little more expensive.

I agree with the above. Buy from the manufacturer.

Some credit cards offer an automatic extension of the manufacturer's warranty; you can check with your bank on the one you have.

Best Buy will replace with new or next model if your model isn't available which will be unlikely. Ive seen that with the MacBooks. They cover accidental damage (I think).

AppleCare is good too. But I'm not sure they cover accidental.
