In April 2016, Beyoncé launched her sixth studio album "Lemonade" worldwide. While the album was available for Apple users to buy for $17.99 on iTunes at launch, it was never put on Apple Music or Spotify and remained a streaming exclusive on Tidal for three years, until today.

Now, both Apple Music and Spotify subscribers can listen to the 13 track album (with an original demo version of "Sorry") for the first time. Apple is highlighting the launch on the main carousel in the Browse tab on Apple Music, along with the live album of "Homecoming," the documentary about Beyoncé's 2018 Coachella performance.

More recently, Beyoncé and Jay-Z launched a collaborative album under the name "The Carters," which only remained a Tidal exclusive for two days and then launched across streaming services in June 2018. Before that time, Jay-Z quietly removed many of his albums from Apple Music in April 2017, but most eventually came back. His own album "4:44" had one week of Tidal exclusivity before appearing on Apple Music in July 2017.

Although it's three years old at this point, "Lemonade" was a huge bonus for Tidal and a way for the company to encourage fans to sign up for the service. The end of its exclusivity follows a rough year for Tidal, with numerous reports about late royalty payments to artists, inflated streaming numbers, and potential data breaches emerging in 2018. The news of late royalty payments and inflated numbers came from Norwegian site Dagens Næringsliv, which specified that Tidal had inflated streaming numbers for "Lemonade".

Meh. She can keep it. I'd rather listen to a pack of chihuahuas barking for an entire afternoon.

Will MR show me love too, when I drop my 3 year old album on Apple Music?

    Ummmm, Great... news?

And I'm not in the "I don't like Beyonce" crowd, I just honestly, have no understanding of her impact.
I listen to pop stations every once in awhile and I think I have heard a song from her in the last 5 years about twice, maybe?
She absolutely amazes me, just release an album, no promotion, no airplay, and everyone buys and loves it.
They should teach college courses about it.
But something tells me if Jay-Z married the lead singer from En Vouge, they would have the same success.
    (I'm only half joking).

So now we can finally get accurate (and not artificially inflated) streaming numbers for it.

I love Tidal for their Hifi offering.

Still, after all those news waiting for the revelation that their Hifi was just decompressed AAC :)

Which it’s not. I can hear the difference!!!

Eh why is this actually news, I don't get the big deal with Beyoncé she thinks she is the queen, so overrated.

I’d much rather a glass of lemonade

Oh and was I the only one who thought she was singing “single lettuce” rather than “single ladies” in her song Single Ladies?

Is that in the US only or world wide? In Germany it doesn't show up in Apple Music.

Funny part is that the album will probably still make more money on Apple Music than it was on Tidal.

If Tidal liked it, they should have put a ring on it...

Absolutely. But I wonder if she would be as big now if she never met him.
I've read stories of her begging to get on shows for promotion during the Destiny Child run. Now, all of a sudden she is some trendsetter?
I am not saying she is not talented but they need to invent a word stronger then overrated for me.

Destiny’s Child was a massive group that sold millions of albums. Then when Beyoncé went solo she continued racking up awards and selling millions. I don’t know where this version of Destiny’s Child’s history came from (?)

She’s way more famous of the two of them.

Lol, says who? It got up to #3 on the iTunes charts a few days ago. That's impressive for an album that came out in 2016.

You made up an entire story she has barely done collaborations with other artists on her projects or others.
    --- Post Merged, Apr 23, 2019 ---
It’s currently #7 on iTunes while her live album of last years Coachella show is #3. She is one of only a handful of artists in today’s market who actually sells albums and not mostly reliant on streams.

It only took 3 years, but now more than 15 people can listen to it.

Oh now I will have to listen to that song. I am terrible about mis-hearing song lyrics.

I still hear “Ham on Rye” when I hear “I’m Alright” by Kenny Loggins.

    I'm alright
    Nobody worry 'bout me
Why you got to gimme a fight?
Can't you just let it be?

    Ham on rye
    Nobody worry bout me
Why you got to give me a bite.

Ham on rye with lettuce...great now I’m thinking of lunch already.

Anyway, back to Beyonce, I loved her back before she got with Jay-Z. Now she’s straight up weird with all the goddessy queen and alter ego and Illuminati or faux Egyptian crap. They’re all getting that way. I don’t know if Madonna started it, but she’s the first one I remember going that way.

Music is getting to be like some weird cult. They start out fresh and original and then become formulaic, when it’s clear they think they’re being edgy. Sad. Even Taylor Swift is dancing around with snakes and crap like she’s going down the same pop formula assembly line. WTH? Britney already did that and look where it’s gotten her. Go do something different.

I like some of Beyoncé’s earlier work but not so keen on the later stuff but I am sure she’ll do well with it now it’s not just on Tidal.
