I'm very excited. I think no matter what everyone's political views are, this day should be looked upon as a great and historic day in American history.

We may as well have one big mega-thread for today's events, for both supporters and detractors... more fun that way. ;)

These things are always fun to watch. Much more this time.

I just hope Obama doesn't end up being a lame duck. People are getting their hopes way up, but what they don't understand is that stuff isn't going to change overnight.

I'll just copy a post I made else where in a now locked thread...

Right now, at the very least he brings with him a tremendous amount of good will and optimism, that alone has to be worth a fair amount.

Going forward he seems to have surrounded himself with a lot of genuinely good and intelligent people. This gives the impression that he doesn't think he's a one man band and is more than willing to listen to someone with greater expertise in a given field. America and the world needs the best of the best.

I'm not expecting miracles, but I'm certainly hopeful for America and all it's allies that you can stop being the big douche bag we all hate :p

I'm already Inaugurationed-Out. Media has been fawning over this for 48 hours already.

I think I'll go play the Goodbye Mr. Bush game. :D

I'll tune in after Rick Warren's invocation. Not going near it til then.

Otherwise- yes, a very good day indeed.

BBC just reported that there is an unspecified threat against the inauguration. I guess there are probably threats against every inauguration for quite a while and it is just a standard tactic by those nar do wells.

I have settled in now watching the coverage, have been so for the last 1 hour or so.

I think this is the first time I've watched an inauguration since 1992.

I've watched them since Clinton's first. They all pale in comparison to the just insane amount of people and events going on for this one.

Quite a preachy invocation - should turn some heads with the conservatives.

Funny how Obama's middle name was shortened to just an initial when the others weren't.

    Rick Warren speech
