A long read, but well worth the effort. This story becomes eye-popping around the middle of page three.

You're right. It's the middle of page three, reading this, made my eyebrows move.

"In one of his last official acts before leaving Baghdad, Bremer issued an order—prepared by the Pentagon, he says—declaring that all coalition-force members "shall be immune from any form of arrest or detention other than by persons acting on behalf of their Sending States."

    Creatively astute, or immoral?

Right around the top of page four, my entire body began twitching involuntarily.

So little interest in this story. I'm surprised.

it would be appalling if, well, it wasn't.

and to think that there is still some who think that this whole thing was not about money...

Or at the very least, a complete lack of any accountability of any kind. Even the accountants lacks accountability. They even lacked accountants. You don't get any more complete than that.

Yep, although I believe I'm become inured to these kinds of stories. Rolling Stone and Harpers (I think) have covered this story in similar detail earlier this year and I just can't imagine just how much was wasted.
Furthermore, companies like Haliburton, KBR, and Blackwater (just to name a few) should be brought up on Profiteering charges.

Iraq will surely become a parable for boondoggle.

Where are all the conservatives to tell us how it's all been worth it?

(and no, the irony of calling them "conservative" is not lost on me)
