Has anyone seen this before? Is there another planet than the moon that we ought to see at night? :p

That would be the new moon. The dark circle means you can't see it, but it's there.

dont think so, my weather app is still showing that black circle even though its bright and sunny outside, also the weather app is purple as opposed to blue when its day time, either yahoos weather servers are messed up or there is a bug in ios.

    weatherappgate!

Kill the app from the Multitasking bar then do a soft reset. Should fix your 'weatherappgate' nonsense.

Don't worry. It's just Apple preparing us for the coming Apocalypse in 2012.

Mine does this as well... Just for a couple of seconds, then it switches to the correct graphic.
