Wow, I guess biology teachers and history teachers should never mention the word "homo" when trying to present Neanderthals and Sapiens and so on.
They could have been gay after all.

Just because people are ignorant of the Greek and Latin meaning of HOMO, does not mean they have the right to do something irresponsible. But then again, ignorance is bliss.

Back in the 80s, Rick Dees, a disc jockey in Los Angeles, did a crank call to a parent to tell her her son was a homo sapien. It was quite funny. As I recall, the woman said "I can't believe it! My son's a Homo sapien!"

This was on the local radio station the other morning, they were having listeners vote for the "most stupid" news story of the day.

This one won in a landslide. (I'm in Utah at the moment by the way)

Everyone knows this was a ridiculous reason to fire someone.

However, the guy's boss, Mr. Woodger, is on record as saying that they had been having numerous run-ins with the guy and his days at the company were numbered anyway.

Still, they should have found a different reason to fire him, because they came out looking like real clowns here.

That joke was repeated far too many times. At least in his case it may have been original.

I always thought homophones were cell phones made for the LGBT community...

I remember the my high school biology class laughing every time Homo Erectus was mentioned. Gawd, teenagers were so easily amused back in my day.

Apparently they first should teach the English language to their management staff.

    Absolutely! Remember it well.

And then teacher would demand an end to our tittering - only to make things worse!

And I heard that most of them work as analysts.
But homonyms and homographs are much worse!
I also think that doctors should refuse bypass surgery on anyone involved in analytics and the sorts.

Don't know if it is real or not but I remember a story about a political campaign many decades ago where one candidate called the other a Thespian.

Back in 1988, when incumbent governor Arch Alfred Moore, Jr (R) ran against Gaston Caperton (D) in the West Virginia governor's race, the Republicans put up billboards in some of the more rural counties that simply read in big, bold letters "Gaston Caperton is a neophyte." The local Republican political leaders would then go about town, saying (with a wink and a nudge) "It's 100% true -- Caperton has publicly admitted to being a neophyte on several occasions!" (Which technically was true, since Caperton was a beginner to politics, and had publicly admitted he had little experience running for public office.)

Over here, there was a case of a paediatrician being beaten by an angry mob of dyslexic parents. Sad but true.
