I signed up for my free year after starting up my new iPhone today. Since my Apple TV is assigned to my account, I expected it to automatically carry over to that device.

But when I open the AppleTV+ app on my Apple TV, it seems unaware that I’ve gotten a free year. It’s showing the screen below.

I’m concerned if I select that “Try it free” icon, I’ll just get a free week, then charged like the small print says, then I’ll have to undo that.

What am I missing here? I assume the free year is not only on the purchased device (iPhone SE in this case).

I saw a notification that I'm eligible for a free year on my Apple TV after I activated my SE ("Enjoy 1 Year Free"). Make sure you used the same Apple ID on both devices. Perhaps restart the TV app or the entire Apple TV.

Like Rigby above, I saw my free year notification on the new phone itself. I saw the same thing you did on the Apple TV at first and did not sign up at the time, but the notification popped up (I forget what I had tapped to make it happen, but I vaguely remember it made sense at the time) and I grabbed it. Then when I opened my Apple TV it was all there.

Ok sweet, thanks everyone. I rebooted the app earlier and the 7 day thing went away. Haven’t tried it yet because I’m tied up but knowing that it should work is helpful.
