April fools news aren't funny anymore because you can't tell them apart from the regular news these days.

    Hm.

You know what, @Meister? Strange to say, - and this is funny because I so rarely find myself in agreement with you - but yes, very good post and a point very well made.

Agreed. There were actually some rumblings that he was considering resignation, but little to back that up.

The man has given up everything to do this. He isn't going to resign. Not over his dead body.

That doesn't change the fact that what's been happening all around the world over the past 2-3 years is indistinguishable from an april fools joke.

I made the mistake to read some german speaking news today.
    I forgot it's april 1st ...

I thought "Oh that's good news." until I saw the comment section and it became clear this was meant as a "joke".
Then I read another news story and I thought "They can't be serious." ... they were ...

The world has become a caricature upon itself.
    In every aspect.

I disagree. We could all use a good laugh that isn't tainted by desperation and nauseous feelings.

But the thought of Mr Trump resigning isn't "a good laugh that isn't tainted by desperation and nauseous feelings", rather it is something devoutly to be hoped for, and thus, is no laughing matter.

The problem is that it's not funny.

    And I am 100% serious: I can't tell anymore what's a joke and what's not.

LOL. I believed this for a couple seconds. I always forget about April fools day because I'm not 7 years old.

He didn't give up much of anything, actually. He could have, which would have satisfied some ethicists, but he chose not to. He still has access to his luxurious properties, and he still has ties to his companies. Once he's finished being president, he could very easily transition back to where he was, only with the added benefit of having the presidency behind him. He has also elevated his family's profile. While history will tell whether this turned out to be a good or bad thing, there is no doubt that his family members working in business now have access and certain advantages in deal-making that they did not before... and many of those family members are quite close to him.

I wish I could agree with you that Trump did something totally selfless, but the way I see it, he didn't take all the steps necessary to remove as many conflicts of interest as possible. Self-sacrifice is also very out of character for him, and at age 70, I don't think we should expect to see any dramatic shifts.

That said, I agree that April Fools stories have always been a nuisance, and in present times they're even more so.

They just plain dillusional, they also think IRS is here to help them. And that call from Pakistan telling you your computer is sending error messages and they will help you fix it is a blessing. "Sure, here are my passwords, please help me"

A self centered narcissistic self promoting huckster billionare who scammed people at Trump University. Sure he is working for the common man, how could there be any doubt.

Can't decide if I should stick with "so-called president" or change to "hypocrite in chief" o_O

I know right? I read this thinking no way but I'm so used to seeing random unverified news that the humor I'd usually find in satire wasn't there.

What? The man hasn't given up ****. In fact, he's given himself an even larger platform and access to even more to further enrich himself. Given up....please.
