This is at least within the realm of belief. They probably stopped having solid food.

I can believe they didn't eat solid food for 9 years. They don't look emaciated. I suppose they could survive on a liquid diet... or TPN (Total Parenteral Nutrition- basically infusing nutrients intravenously). But obviously they must eat and drink something to survive.

Maybe they both pretend not to eat in front of each other and then gorge when no one is looking. Then they both willfully believe each others lie.

Common knowledge says you can survive 3 days without water... that's not entirely true, depending on factors like climate and physical activity, humans can survive up to 10 days. There are reports of some individuals surviving ~2 weeks without water.

These people are clearly not telling the truth and are looking for attention... not to mention liable to make naive people think this is possible and starve themselves (which is obviously dangerous). I'd love to have social services ensure their children are getting proper nutrition, secondary to sitting these people in a lab and watching them eat or drink virtually nothing for as long as they can stand it.

Honestly, this sounds like a couple with an eating disorder- anorexia, binge eating, body dysmorphia- something... perhaps breathanismia ("lying that you haven't eaten for years"). I would be very concerned about their children getting a proper diet.

The “Breatharian” article is yet another example of tabloid journalism at its finest from the New York Post.

Man. There was a time the Post was worth a read in the train on the way home. Long gone, that.

While cutting weight when wrestling we'd sit about once a week.

Besides saving costs on food Breatharians must save a ton of money on toilet paper too.

This is old hat. Some Australian fraud called Jasmueen or something like that peddled this nonsense a while back until she was caught out. Not before a German acolyte starved herself to death first.

Could be true. Might be wording. @A.Goldberg said it. Liquid diet. But maybe not so. You can liquefy most foods. It's not a solid anymore then. There's a school of thought that liquefied foods are better absorbed than regular food consumed through chewing, or mastication, if you want to be technical.

If food is pulverized or liquefied, there's no need for oral enzymes to break the food down.

    Surely it could...

And who's to say... A bat child might have actually been found in a cave, some years ago.

    Developing...

If you read my entire post, you can see that I don't buy it and suggested it's word trickery on the couples part. One doesn't eat a liquid, they consume it or drink it. One can consume solid food, but they can't drink it.

Great magazine photo of Jess Sessions, though.

And I knew my son would be nourished enough by my love and this would allow him to grow healthily in my womb. I went for regular pregnancy checkups and my doctor confirmed the above-average growth of a very healthy baby boy.”

No. That's why I called them liars.

But by spreading their lies, they're encouraging the next couple of idiots to try the same thing.

Doubtful this is self limiting. Very few are strong enough to starve to death.
