I don't consider this bad news, do you ?

A bullfighter in Spain was fatally gored on live television Saturday in the country’s first death of a professional matador in the ring in more than three decades.

Victor Barrio, 29, died after a 1,166-pound bull flipped him and gored him in the thigh and in the chest, which penetrated a lung and his aorta, the Associated Press reports.

“My condolences to the family and colleagues of Victor Barrio, the deceased bullfighter this evening in Teruel. Rest in Peace,” Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy tweeted.

My middle school Spanish class took a field trip to Mexico with a bunch of other schools Spanish classes and this one teacher from an other school just loved bullfighting. He studied it and thought he was an expert. We went to a bull fight and this teacher somehow convinced the organizers to let him get in there and try it. He got messed up and had to be flown home. He wasn't our teacher so we all thought it was a hell of a joke.
I still pretty much feel the same.
You get in the ring you take your chances.

Very strange poll. Just because I feel empathy for the matador who has died and their family doesn't then mean I condone bull fighting or think it's justified. Likewise my personal distaste of bull fighting doesn't mean I should suddenly be less empathetic as a human being when a death has taken place period.

It seems to me the poll is merely there to function to make people say the death was justified, or somehow less tragic because it was a bull fighter being gored to death. Which seems utterly contrary. A death is a death, and if we should feel sorry for the poor bull, we should likewise acknowledge the waste of life the death of the matador also represents.

And yes I think Bull Fighting is distasteful.

Literally in this case. Yeah, it's tragic, but not surprising, considering the whole point of bullfighting is, you know, fighting bulls.

Especially when your food is a half ton of angry cow that has two horns pointed in your direction.

reminds me of the joke where this guy hears about a restaurant that sells big bull balls after a bull fighting event. he was looking forward to it he goes and orders and gets these little balls. he asks why are these so small? the waiter says some days the bull looses some days he wins.

Personally, I think life would be a lot better if all our parties ended like the closing scene from Apocalypse Now. I mean the whole thing, not just the bull killing part.

I feel bad for the matador and his family. But it is sort of an occupational hazard.

And you could flip a switch, and turn it into a nacho cheese fountain.
