I think the factory unlock phones come without any carrier branding on the back of the box

Wirelessly posted (Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 5_0_1 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/534.46 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/5.1 Mobile/9A405 Safari/7534.48.3)

I think if you search for model numbers you will see that there is a certain model # that pertains to the unlocked models. I know that the easiest way would probably be to bring a sim card with you and just slip it in.

bring your sim and pop it in to see it works.

If it is a very good deal, then I will buy it. Otherwise, I will pass. You can get it brand new from Apple for $649 for the 16gb.

What colour and capacity is it? Unlocked model numbers are:

    Black 16 GB: MD234
    Black 32 GB: MD241
    Black 64 GB: MD257
    White 16 GB: MD237
    White 32 GB: MD244
    White 64 GB: MD260

These are followed with country-specific letters, in my case my phone is MD241NZ/A. Canada will likely have a C or something in there :)

Bring to Apple store or call to verify by giving them its IMEI#.

I've seen a list of some of the locked model numbers but I don't recall where. If it's not in the list I gave you then it's most likely locked.

I have an Unlocked 64GB 4S and my model is MD257C and Iam in Canada so I assume thats what the C stands for.

Keep an eye on the model number to match up. Or you could email call him to ask him the model/serial number and figure it out online yourself.

Bring a SIM Card with you to test it with, and make sure that Cydia isn't there ;)
