I remember seeing the video about this, I'll vote for it. If homosexuals cannot get married, heterosexuals shouldn't be able to get divorced.

Despite whatever the nutcase says, it's still a PR move.

I'm all for it. Let's not stop here though. We have other groups who need their rights taken away too. I fully expect InTheNet, fivepoint and FullofWin to support this measure. If they don't, all their talk about the "sanctity" of marriage is BS.

It's simply about protecting marriage from those who wish to destroy it.:D

This sounds like a great idea. Marriage needs to be protected.

What's to stop people from getting married in say Nevada and then living in CA? They'd divorce in CA.

Honestly, I used to think I'd only divorce on two grounds ... abuse and/or infidelity. I have said that most of my life. However as I grow older I realize that there could be other reasons.

You want to destroy marriage! How dare you! :D

Well- we aren't going to let you do that. You'll stay married and be faithful, or else!

You know something is sacred when you get about the same odds of failure as playing black on a roulette table.

FullOfWin hasn't posted in PRSI for ages - and I should know, I'm currently obsessed with it ;).

Don't worry- he'll be back, I'm sure. With a topic this important, I'm sure all of our "conservative" posters will be in here soon to support the effort to save marriage!

Yeah. Lady who lived next door to me many years ago didn't believe in divorce, 'cause she was a born-again. So instead of leaving her husband, she stayed through alcoholism, a visit from the SWAT team, his subsequent loss of job and three year term in jail, and the bank foreclosure of their house for non-payment of taxes.

He eventually left the state. I had to watch her have a freak-out as the sheriff's deputies dumped all her belongings on her front lawn and social services took her to live temporarily at a dumpy Howard Johnson's.

But by God, she preserved the sanctity of marriage!

As one of the more right-leaning posters here, just thought I'd throw in my 2c--I think this is a great idea :)

Even if this law passes the article says annulments would still be allowed. What's the point?

Annulments have to have a fairly legitimate reason. Divorces do not.

Only in la la land would a Sacramento web designer's gay rant against traditional marriage be taken serious enough to warrant "news" fodder. Not at all surprising, however, that such foolishness forms the basis of Olbermann's MSNBC comment.

    Wow.

So wanting to protect traditional marriage by banning divorce is a "gay ray". And what the hell does him being a Sacramento web designer have to do with anything? Are you trying to portray him as some elitist?

If you were to do it yourself, would you support a ban against divorce? It's does much more damage to children alone that does letting two gay men or women marry each other.

Has Olbermann commented on this yet? It's 10 minutes till it goes live where I live. I've seen every episode from the past few years and I don't remember him mentioning this but I could easily be wrong.

I wouldn't if others in the family didn't want it so bad. I always watch it online.
