yet another macbytes link that is terribly titled.

ripping ipod implies that someone was taking songs off of ipods. i was assuming that people were being prosecuted right now, and someone was 'calling' for them to be taken off of trial.

please if anyone else agrees, please, let me know. or let me know if i'm straight up crazy! always with these damn macbytes.

Meh, that was basically the headline from the original article this time, not submitter spin.

On the UK law, is the home copying prohibition being enforced? Have there been any threats to enforce it? The article sort of hints at such things, but it's vague there.

Can't comment on the title because it's been on the news here so I knew what it was about.

I haven't heard of anyone being prosecuted but it shouldn't be illegal in the first place. Within limitations, I can copy most printed material I don't even own for my own use so why can't I copy my own legally purchased CD, again purely for my own use? Until I saw the news, I thought it was legal but that the music industry wanted to make it illegal. Maybe that was somewhere else. The article says the music industry haven't been pursuing prosecutions. Can you imagine the extra bureaucracy that would be needed to prosecute all those with their own CDs on their iPods?

Just as an aside, nothing to do with music, but a law with about the same degree of enforceability, I'm not supposed to let anyone watch my TV that doesn't have a TV licence of their own, or someone who has a licence for a TV that someone else is watching while they watch mine.
