    Sexist.

Parents should teach their children and children should decide for themselves what they're good at.

The liberal media's servants shouldn't dictate how children should act, much less be sexist, unless it's their own kids. Stop acting like big government, liberal media, stop it.

And it's not 1970 anymore, when the problems were far worse. More women and girls have taken interest, why must the pendulum keep swinging when the middle - why not encourage all and without the segregationist over and undertones?

It's no different when we are told "Don't you dare tell me how to raise my kid!" by some parent in a store as it runs around learning how to act despite everybody thinking "That's a bad parent for not keeping the kid under control with a leash" but are too terrified to confront for the sake of all in the store...

And with all the news articles of recent discussing Americans training their own foreign replacements, particularly H1Bs, maybe American women have been smarter than the American men on reading the articles that started to trickle in the early-2000s as more jobs started leaving?

I keep reading the thread title as "Call Girl Scientists" and imagining it as Fox's skanky version of The Big Bang Theory ... or a porn movie title (duh).

Except conservatives absolutely know what role women should have. Liberals tend to let women do what they wish.

That's why daughters of liberal parents are promiscuous and pregnant at fifteen.

The Girl Scouts' founder wanted girls to learn skills so they could succeed independently.

Of course, today's liberals would be screaming about the dangerous knives, sexist skirts, white privilege, and microaggressions.

Project all you want, my only issue with the girl/boy scouts is how intertwined with christianity they are. Other than that, I have no qualms with them.

That's great, that doesn't change things at the group level. Every boy scout I've ever met (cousins, friends) were aware of the odd amount of religion shoehorned into their local groups.

They're being attacked for allowing gay people in, gee I wonder why the christian leaders have decided to make a fuss?

I think this is a great idea. In my experience taking hard science courses (from molecular bio to CS) the women that are in them are real go-getters. Especially when it came time for group projects or working in the lab. Way more efficient, organized, out of box thinking, and more down to get a drink after we're done working. My anecdotal experience of course; also this was a university where everyone his pretty highly motivated to begin with.

No one is forcing girls to go into fields they're not interested in. But for those who have teetering interests, or potential, a lot do get dissuaded which is a travesty to the people in the field that they're interested in. Especially the aforementioned "go-getter" types.

I agree to a point.....but there is some social engineering that happens at a very young age. This Verizon commercial hits the nail on the head as far as I am concerned.

On a serious not this is a great idea; however, the video dances around the fact that STEM careers are difficult, require a lot of hard work, and require a strong foundation in mathematics that students don’t necessarily get in today’s public schools. It speaks to gifted kids but not to the 99% of kids who are average learners.

In fact, STEM is a bit of a misnomer. It really should be steM because all (hard) science, technology, and engineering careers require a solid foundation in at least multivariate calculus and differential equations.

What the U.S. should do is emphasize applied mathematics in the public school curriculum. However, that's not going to happen because most teachers aren't even good at it.

While I oppose them, that is one good argument for H1-B visas. While the U.S. is good at producing Ph.D's like "Dr." Melissa Click who write dissertations "On the Whiteness of Martha Stewart" we're not as good as producing STEM professionals, which is why we're importing so many of them.

It appears I may have been mistaken your post as accusing me of having an issue with women's independence, that was a misreading on my part. Sorry about that.
